Thought I'd bring in this thread from the other forum in case any missed it.
If you are using firefox, it is very easy. I have found that method 1 works very well. I cannot take credit for this trick and credit must be given. Here is the source of the orig thread from filesharingtalk.com
http://filesharingtalk.com/vb3/showthread.php?t=97352
Check out the above link for other methods of saving as well (ie using the downthemall estension)
How to rip streaming movies with firefox
<hr style="color: rgb(126, 131, 140);" size="1"> <!-- / icon and title --><!-- message --> Most of you already know this..anyway
Whether its swf, mov, wmv, etc, etc in a page
Method 1 - Via page info
-right clik on page (not on the actaul movie) > clik "page info" > tab "media"
-look for the file described as "embed" (make sure its the right one)
-simply clik "save as"
-done
however sometimes movies take a long time to load - forexample http://www.lotsofrobots.com/Web3/Mov...lay_V2All3.htm (http://www.lotsofrobots.com/Web3/MoviePlayMain/MovieDisplay/LOR_Play_V2All3.htm)
so if you press "save as" - nothing will happen until the movie is totally loaded in the cache. to speed it up
-open the pageinfo>media>clik save as
-then close the page where the movie is loading
-and the "save" menu will instantly pop up.
http://img106.echo.cx/img106/3669/neoshooter19pe.png
Method 2 - via adblock extension
V1: clik on the "adblock" tablet thingy above the movie - copy the adress. (close the adblok window - dont clik Ok)
-put in adress bar > enter
-then goto "file" - save page as
-done
V2 : if the movie takes up the whole page (and in most of these cases there is no menu bar) and you cant right clik or save page as - in bottom right of firefox - clik "adblock" - copy adress - open new window in firefox, past in adress - file save page as.

Your right, it does not work on this site. This is because the media on this site is JAVA. Sorry this doesn't seem to work w/JAVA and I don't know how to save a JAVA vid.

Anybody know how to disable plugins for Mozilla-based browsers? Any other browsers? (Short of deleting the plugin itself?)
Catalyst: I am tired of .MOVs automatically loading/playing in the browser.
I remember in the old days with Netscape and Mozilla that you were given the option whether to load it in browser or save as file. I thought I found an about:config for disabling plugins in Camino, but nuh-uh :106:

In Firefox . . .
Tools > Options > Downloads > Download Actions
Then you can change the actions associated with the file type: either download automatically, save to folder or open with a program

individual plug-ins can be removed and put into another folder , or discarded without restarting Safari , may work the same in Camino?.........:075:
PS. Flip4mac replace's that piece of crap plug-in that the good folks who produce windoze gave to Mac users :042: , give's you the choice to play media in browser or QT , well not really , QT pop's up everytime unless , when you install Flip4mac , you chose to keep that crappy microshaft plug-in , I dumped that crap so fast. I don't know why I'm pushing this crap , it work's and is free , no benefit to me dammit   ........:075:

, you chose to keep that crappy microshaft plug-in ,
Nah dude. ain't buggin about WMP plugin (never even had it). I'm buggin about QuickTime.
See, the thing is, I want Safari to be my general browser with plugins on, javascript on, no filtering, ...... the whole nine yards. I only take it to places I trust.
And I want Firefox and Camino to be the custom hot rods. I want QuickTime to not operate in those browsers, (and RealPlayer for that matter...WMP is actually a decent citizen compared to RP, ---- if you delete RP's plugin from the /Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, it will reinstall it the next time RP launches. Well that defeats the purpose).
So anyway, I want Safari to have access to all the plugins, but not FF and Camino. So I cant just delete them, I have to configure FF and Camino on their side. Whythefuck is it so difficult measks?

Here is a list of extensions I use:
+ Bazzacuda Image Saver: Batch saving of images opened in tabs
+ Fasterfox: I don't know if this actually speeds up loading of webpages (I have it on 'optimised') but I like the timer
+ FlashGot: Works well with FlashGet
+ Image Toolbar: Adds that save images icon on the top left of images just like Internet Explorer.
[EDIT] I recently got the AdBlock Plus extension and it is fantastic. No more ErrorSafe ads and all that crap...

i'm using 2.0 and there are a few changes (not bugs) that i'm not totally crazy about, but overall i think it's an improvement over 1.5 as it seems less buggy. as far as the updates go, i don't think firefox will auto-update from v1.x to v2.x

Hi everyone. Been gone for a while. Had a minor computer problem so I just decided to build a new one and it rocks!!! Anyway, since i had to reinstall everything, I went thru the extension son Firefox and found this interesting one I like. It allows you to easily download videos from sites like youtube, Google Videos, and Itune and is very easy to use. It says it is also able to download files, but I haven't tried that yet, only tried it on youtube and it workrf great. Don't attempt to down pics from the forum here or you will just get a lot of errors due to the redirector. All you need once you install the extension is a FLV Player (Flash Video Player). I found a nice one that also works very easily and I have also attached a download link to it as well. It says it also able to download files but I haven't tried that yet, have only tried it on youtube and it work great. Don't attempt to down pics from the forum here or you will just get a lot of errors due to the redirector.
Here is the info in case anyone is interested.

DownloadHelper is a tool for web content extraction. Its purpose is to capture video and image files from many sites.
Just surf the Web as you are used to, when DownloadHelper detects it can do something for you, the icon gets animated and a menu allows you to download files by simply clicking an item
For instance, if you go to a YouTube page, you'll be able to download the video directly on your file system. It also works with MySpace, Google videos, DailyMotion, Porkolt, iFilm, DreamHost and others.
When you are on a page containing links to images or movies, you can download some or all of them at once. Moving the mouse over the items in the menu will highlights the links directly in the page to make sure they are the ones you want to pick up.
DownloadHelper also allows you to download files one by one, so that you keep bandwidth to surf for other stuff to download.
To modify your preferences, like changing the download directory, right-click on the icon and choose "Preferences".
When you first install the extension, your browser is redirected to a welcome page with links to a user manual at http://www.downloadhelper.net/manual.php (http://sputtergutter.net/forums/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsputtergutter.net% 2Fforums%2Fredirector.php%3Furl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%2 52Fsputtergutter.net%252Fforums%252Fredirector.php %253Furl%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.download helper.net%25252F) and a faq at http://www.downloadhelper.net/faq.php (http://sputtergutter.net/forums/redirector.php?url=http%3A%2F%2Fsputtergutter.net% 2Fforums%2Fredirector.php%3Furl%3Dhttp%253A%252F%2 52Fsputtergutter.net%252Fforums%252Fredirector.php %253Furl%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.download helper.net%25252F)
This does not change your homepage setting and the welcome page won't appear anymore.

FLV Player is a standalone application to play Flash FLV files with. This utility can come in handy when viewing many FLV files, as it doesn't require the Flash IDE. The installer comes with optional FLV association, so double clicking an FLV file opens and plays the file in the player. The installer includes optional downloads for FLV recording and conversion software by Applian.<!-- end publisher's description -->

Editor's review of FLV Player
Most people don't need anything more than a Web browser and a Macromedia plug-in to watch Flash videos. However, if you want a bit more control over your viewing, this open-source freeware program will do the trick. FLV Player's exceedingly simple controls allow you to navigate backward and forward through videos and play them in a loop. And that's about it. Our only major complaint is that the display window doesn't automatically resize to the size of your movie frame. We hope this problem will be remedied in future versions. FLV Player isn't a must-have by any stretch, but it's a decent tool for penny-pinching Flash developers.<!-- end download editor's review -->

I am going to give Bittorrenting another try. I recently read a comment on a DevonAGENT review page about something. It mentioned awesome results from a Firefox add-on toolbar that conducts searches for torrents. (Unfortunately I can't find that page again, so I don't know what add-on it was.)
So can anybody suggest a good Bittorrent toolbar add-on for Firefox?

Did you check the options to enable Adblock and then on the bottom right there is an option to remove ads or hide ads? You want to check 'remove ads'.
You also need Adblock Filterset.G Updater which keeps everything up-to-date.
I rarely have a problem. And I'm surprised at how much ads there are, when I use IE (which is a rarity) Firefox rules!

Thanks for these tips, guys! I went ahead and installed Adblock Plus + Adblock Filterset.G which seems to be working well so far, but I don't see any check options to "remove ads" or "hide ads." Is this feature built into the Plus version, or can those options only be found on the original Adblock extension?
