(CNN) -- British Prime Minister Tony Blair provoked a storm Saturday after apparently admitting that the invasion of Iraq by the United States and Britain was "a disaster."
Blair gave the surprise assessment of his decision to go to war in an interview with David Frost on Al-Jazeera's new English-language channel -- though he was replying to Frost and did not actually use the disaster word himself.
Blair's Downing Street office insisted that the British PM's views had been misrepresented and that it was "disingenuous" to portray it as an admission, the UK's Press Association said.
During the interview, Frost suggested that the West's intervention in Iraq had "so far been pretty much of a disaster."

Though I support our troops, I admit that Blair has some good points. We should have cleaned house, then split. As messy as it would have been, we can't save these tribal groups from themselves.

"Disaster" would be a very polite description. Kudos to a politician for saying it like it is.
I have hope that the Iraq Study Group (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iraq_Study_Group) headed up by James Baker will find a practical, pragmatic, common-sense solution and get us out of there as soon as possible and, if possible, stabilize the region.

Blair is such a pussy. He just retracted his statement:
Blair 'disaster' admission over Iraq a 'slip of the tongue' (http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/11/18/061118191126.gfcbmuyt.html)
What is wrong with saying that it is a disaster and here's how we're going to fix it?
