I actually have never burned a DVD on my Mac in the 2 1/2 yrs that I have had it. It looks like springing for the Superdrive was a waste :p

I know the Finder has some rudimentary burning capability, but I am fairly confident it wouldn't play nice in burning a direct copy of a rental disc.

Roxio is the Godzilla of burning apps, but I also would think it wouldn't play nice in burning a direct copy of a rental disc.

Pure-mac is one of my favorite go-to places for Mac software. This page has 16 titles under "CD/DVD Burners"

I clicked on one there with an interesting name;
Check out the description for FireStarter FX 1.0b10

FireStarter is a pure Cocoa, Mac OS X only burning application which will allow you to duplicate all kind of CDs (even those that other Mac OS X applications won't), . . .
..doesn't say DVDs specifically though :007:

Kool thanks Junkboxy. I will be checkin that one out. I have been burning dvd's on my pc to this day and i never tried to do it on here. But it would be pretty stupid if you couldn't do it on a mac though. Any help is good help. Thanks Junkboxy. Oh ya don't worry about burning a disc with the superdrive. its name is really deciving. Its so slow but if it burns dvd's i guess it does its job.

Well i seemed to have found a tutorial on how to burn a dvd with a mac. If the mods would like to make this a perminent that would be cool to. just wondering. Here it is. and if you would like i can make some screen shots to. And there might be some modifications to this since i am not using dvd2onex or toast but instead of these two programs i am using roxio popcorn.

Tutorial:
MACINTOSH DVD RIPPING TUTORIAL BY MEDIAGURU

After reading through some message boards I realized there
were many newbies who simply didn't know the process. I
typed this up quickly and I'm sure it's not perfect. I'll revise it
if I find mistakes sometime....

There are several good ways to rip and burn a dvd on the mac
in OSX. I'm able to rip/compress/burn with my dual G5 in
less than an hour. These steps are fairly detailed but once
you have your preferences set it will be as simple as a couple
of mouse clicks per rip/compress/burn.

There are 3 basic applications you will need to backup a
commercial dvd:
1. A RIPPER such as Mac The Ripper, DVDBackup1,3 or OSEX
2. A COMPRESSOR: If the ripped files are over 4.3GB then
you'll need to compress to reduce the file size.
3. BURNING SOFTWARE: burn with toast.

MY FAVORITE WAY TO RIP/COMPRESS/BURN: (Mac The Ripper
+ DVD2ONEX + Toast)

RIP

I prefer to use Mac The Ripper to rip. It has many great
features including the ability to rip full disc, movie only,
titlesets, chapter selction, disable user operations, de-
macrovision, reset RCE Region and more. It has come to my
attention however that using MTR in "main feature only" mode
may result in an unplayable rip. If that is the case rip the
whole disc just to be sure.
Update: There is a new version of MTR: 2.6.6
I don't know if the movie only problem is fixed
but there are other improvements. Download MTR here: http://www.speedisc.com/downloads/

1. Put the dvd in your mac.
2. Quit dvd player if it starts up
3. Run Mac The Ripper (MTR)
4. MTR will default with full disc rip (Movie only doesn't work
currently up to version 2.6. So don't rip movie only for now!)
5. Hit "GO" and MTR will rip the disc to your hard drive.
6. I usually title my rips like this STAR_TREK_RIP

COMPRESS

SKIP the compress stage if your RIP is 4.3GB or less! (Unless
you want to strip some extras or use some of the features of
dvd2onex).

1. Run DVD2ONEX
2. Decide if you want to compress the MOVIE ONLY, WHOLE
DISC or use the JOIN MODE

MOVIE ONLY mode is usually what I use. I want to preserve
the quality of the MOVIE and I don't usually care about the
extra features. If you can strip the extras and unwanted
languages ect, you can have more space for higher quality
DVD video.

WHOLE DISC mode is obviously for compressing the entire
dvd. It is to be used if you wish to preserve all extras,
previews, fbi warnings and subtitles. You can still de-select
some audio tracks.

JOIN MODE is good for RIPS that may contain several
"episodes" on one DVD. For instance a Star Trek dvd will have
4 episodes. I used join mode to "Join" two episodes together
onto ONE dvd. Using join mode in this way preserves ALL of
the video quality. You could also use join mode to COMBINE
TWO DVD'S. Say you have two DVD's that are 1 hour each.
You could "join" them and make 1 dvd. HOWEVER, using join
mode to combine titles could result in lower quality video.

YOU CAN SPLIT A DVD INTO TWO, OR SELECT A PORTION OF
THE DVD WITH CELL/CHAPTER/LAYER (under the selections
tab).
If you want to split the disc you can select layer to split where
the layers switch. OR you can select chapter and select the
first half of the chapters for disc one and the 2nd half of the
chapters for disc two. This would most likely result in split
disc with no quality loss at all.

3. Once you've selected the correct mode you may need to
select which chapters, audio tracks and subtitles you want.
4. Select START and DVD2ONEX will ask you for a location for
the new compressed data.
5. Create a new folder and DVD2ONEX will put the VIDEO_TS
and AUDIO_TS folder in there!
6. I'll usually title my compressed files like this:
STAR_TREK_DVD

AN ALTERNATIVE TO COMPRESSION THAT SHRINKS THE
DISC SIZE AND KEEPS THE MAIN MENU! ALSO A "MANUAL"
WAY TO SPLIT THE DVD WITH MENUS ON BOTH!
(before you do this you may want to try the way I describe to
split above with dvd2onex).

WARNING: this may result in an unplayable dvd however so be
warned!

If you have a DVD that is larger than 4.3gb but contains tons
of extra features, deleted scenes etc you can try a little
experiment.

The basic structure of the DVD will have:

DISC_TITLE
-VIDEO_TS
(inside video_ts are some files with .IFO .BUP .VOB)
The ifo file has the basic "instructions" for the player. It is
basically a text file telling the player what to play when.

The .VOB is a "Video Object" which contains the mpeg2 video
and audio.

There will be several VOB files: VTS_01_1.VOB, VTS_01_2.VOB
etc. The max size for 1 vob file is about 1GB. If you have say
6 or 7 VOBS and you want just the main feature try this: Take
out VOBS 5, 6 & 7. See if you are under 4.3GB. If you are
then load up DVD Player and try to play the VIDEO_TS folder.
Go to the last chapter or two of the disc and try to play them.
Play it out to the end of the movie. If it is all there you are
good to go. If not, then the mpeg2 compression is too big
and you'll have to compress it.

If you want to save the extras the opposite of the above works
as well. Just make a version with the .IFO .BUP and the last
few .VOBs. You'll retain the main menu and have a disc with
the extras!

If you have a DVD with basically NO special features or extras
and you want to split it into two discs and thus have NO
compression then you can do the same. Make disc one with
the .IFO and .BUP files along with the first half of the .VOBs.
Then make the 2nd disc with the .IFO and .BUP with the 2nd
half of the .VOBs. You won't know where your split is until
you play it though and there may be some overlap but hey it
will work!

If you want to save the extras the opposite of the above works
as well. Just make a version with the .IFO .BUP and the last
few .VOBs. You'll retain the main menu and have a disc with
the extras!

In these scenarios you may need to keep the first VOB if your
menus are not there! EXPERIMENT!

Once again I warn you that you may make some coasters this
way. Test your VIDEO_TS folders with DVD Player!

BURN

Using TOAST 6

1. Run toast 6.X
2. Select the DATA tab
3. Under the disc options window tab, select ADVANCED
4. Select "DVD-ROM (UDF)"
5. Select "New Disc" and name it with CAPS_ONLY_LIKE_THIS
(no spaces)
6. Add your new VIDEO_TS folder to the disc.
7. Add or create an AUDIO_TS folder, even if it is empty.
(Some players like to see this folder)
8. Burn (Use slowest speed you can stand to wait for)
DO NOT USE THE "VIDEO" TAB. This is for creating VideoCD,
or DVD from video files such as MPG, AVI etc. It is NOT for
burning DVD from ripped files!!! This is something MANY
people don't understand!!!
8.5 In version 6.0.7 I believe you CAN burn a "DVD From
VIDEO_TS Folder" from the Video tab.

That's it!

YOU CAN'T USE DISK UTILITY TO BURN DVD VIDEOS!:
DVD video discs are "UDF" format. Disc utility doesn't do UDF!

OTHER APPS:

You can use DVDBackup1.3 or OSEX instead of MTR. OSEX is
kind of buggy but sometimes can drip a DVD that other
programs can't. Use OSEX as a 3rd option.

USING DVDBACKUP1.3:

1. Put DVD in player
2. Play the DVD in apple's DVD player for a few seconds. I
usually start the main feature and scan through some of the
chapters. The encryption keys are stored IN the DVD player.
If you don't do this your rip may not work.
3. Quit DVD player and run DVDBackup1.3
4. Drag the dvd's disc icon from the desktop to the window in
DVDBackup. You'll then see the files in the dvd.
5. Hit "Process Files" and the program will ask you to create a
new VIDEO_TS folder. It will then decrypt the files to that
folder.
Proceed to Compress or Burn mode when the rip is done.

OSEX

OSEX is one of (if not THE) the first mac OSX rippers. It has
some
nice selections like extracting to quicktime, chapter selections
etc. It does like to crash when there is dvd-rom data for the
computer on the dvd. Sometimes OSEX will extract a dvd
when other apps won't. Nice as a 2nd or 3rd backup for
ripping.

DVDRemaster:

I usually use DVD2ONEX but DVDRemaster has very high
quality compression. It does lack many of the features
DVD2ONEX has like join, movie only etc. But for a full disc
recompress it works quite well. It does allow you to select
two different ways to recompress and different audio track
selection.

The M2VDownsizer is a very high quality mode that actually
recompresses the video. I can't tell a difference in the video
quality of a dvd-9 or a dvd-5 with m2vdownsizer
compression! It can take a LONG time depending on your
machine. On my dual G5/2ghz it takes about 4 hours.

DVDXDV:

Use this great program to extract parts of a DVD to quicktime.
Works awesome, but doesn't decrypt. So if you want to
convert part of a commercial dvd, you'll need to rip it first.

FAST DVD COPY:

Nice for 1 click copying of a commercial dvd!

If you simply want to click one button and have virtually NO
control over the content then take a look at FastDVDCopy. I
don't recommend this way personally.

WHEN NOTHING ELSE WORKS

I have a couple of macs that can boot in OS9. There's an old
app (I believe the very first on the mac) for ripping. It is called
DVDExtractor.9b. It will rip the disc and make a disc image of
it. I've had discs that couldn't be ripped with any of the osx
rippers but DID rip correctly with DVDExtractor.

Apple has forced all it's customers to who use Tiger to accept a thinly vieled attack ( visible to those who know ) on pirates as an "Upgrade". This 'small' , (right ) update basically wiped out all 'haxies' and cracked apps ( I heard lol ) and forces you to start clean , if you have no skills that is lol .

Regular Mac users who sample cracked apps , will probaly go into a panic , and call a tech , but there is no need . If you experience the "Gray screen of Death" or your system lock's up after the upgrade , only then should you use this method, just restart in targeted mode , after inserting disk #1, pressing option while powering on and choose the "Archive and install" option, then retake the update and add back your apps and haxies or upgrade them as needed.

There are few Mac users here , but I have posted cracked apps and I want to warn the few , good luck............:032:

It's a bitch to start all over , took me a coupla hrs. to figure out , after the update , if you are using that cracked version of Front Row it will not work , and if you try to enable it , it will cause kernel panics and permissions probs , on restart, do not re-enable it , IMHO............

10-03-2006, 12:39 AM
That's what I thought too , till I tried to run a cracked version of Speed Download and all hell broke loose , I had to re-install and dump that version of Shapeshifter and get the beta work's fine now after tweaking all my system with Mac-pilot , a maintainance app , that serial will not work on the beta version...........

They planned for this shit and then days later release the antidote , too late , you suck !! Apple , and don't ever try that shit again!! As if those fuckers care haha , just glad it finally stabilized.........

My frikking 'classic apps' are dying on the Vine and they don't make these tools for Tiger . suck's , oh well a 'brute forcing' I will be going with 'John the ripper " , I hate using the Terminal to configure apps , I allways screw up .........

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Apple computers have long been prized for being relatively virus-free. But as more people use Apple products, experts say the company is increasingly becoming a target for cyber pranksters and criminals writing viruses and other forms of malware.
The threat was highlighted earlier this week after a handful of the company's iPods were shipped with the RavMonE.exe virus.
According to Apple, the virus affected less than 1 percent of the video iPods available for purchase after September 12, 2006.
The problem is thought to have originated in the manufacturing process by another company that builds iPods for Apple and isn't believed to be a direct attack on the widely popular iPod itself.
Moreover, experts say the iPod isn't likely to become a Petri dish for cyber germs, as it's not directly connected to the Internet and is easily wiped clean and reloaded. But they do believe viruses targeting Apple's Macintosh personal computers are increasing.
"As they increase their market share, there will be more of a concentrated effort to write malicious code for the platform," said Jonathan Hoopes, an analyst who covers Apple for ThinkEquity Partners.
Oliver Friedrichs, director of security response at Symantec, a leading anti-virus software vendor, said 72 vulnerabilities were discovered in the Mac's OS X operating system in 2006, up from 19 in 2004.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/TECH/ptech/10/20/apple.virus/index.html

So is the level of incompetence of Apple , seem's they did not plan for success or they are so successful they don't care anymore...........:102: :102: :102: :102: :102:

Haha i can see your fustration Durcam. I hate this update of Tiger. I think Panther was workin just fine. Ever since i installed this Tiger crap so many features on my laptop don't work.

As for the viruses, 72 vulnerabilities, phew, that is nothing compared to the Windows os. Not much to worry about right now. And plus i run some pretty good stuff so it detects anything if it happens.
I even had my GF dad who is an IT to see if he could get onto my computer from the network and he couldn't do it. He was boggled. I was just laughing. Maybe a little evil laugh came out to. muahahaha lol

durcam

I still enjoy the concept , but the re-booting and the tweaking just to get it back to where it was is a bitch , this morning Safari refused to launch , had to delete preference files and reset everything , then a hr later had to do it again :102: .

They installed this build to stop the 'cloning' and ;pirating' of the OS and apps , but every user got screwed , very short-sighted , I thought I was the only one going through this , because , well , I'm a Pirate :032: , but Intel users , because Intel crosses platforms , have got it worst than me , imagine if you had bought a brand new Intel Mac and then they pull this stunt , very silly , and according to the posters on Mac forums and what I have seen ,

They don't even acknowledge the "crime" lol they have commited suck's for us Mac users , but it is allready biting them in the ass......lol lol lol lol

for spotlight you don't have to type in the full name, all you have to do is press apple key and spacebar, then type it and it will list the most commen programs files and such within sec. then you just pic what you want.

Oh and if you want to put applications and such in the menu bar you have to go into that programs preferences and see if you can apply it into the menu bar. But most programs don't allow it. I know it sucks. But if you hold the command key you can drag the stuff around. Thats all i know.

Hope that helped.

Those huge ones are a screenshot of the App Switcher in use --- You know the app switcher right?
Command-Tab.

I think I'm looking for a simple more direct solution than HimmelBar, which gives us a menu. I want "one-click" activation for TimeBomb (and iWillQuit). I saw Unsanity's page on those two that you mentioned HS, I don't think either one deals with the right-side of the Menu Bar.

/System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extra
This folder holds the repository of Menu items that possibly get used by your User login.
I don't know how to go creating a .menu "MenuExtra plugin". Bet there is a simple haxie out there though that will do this.

hungarianstud
11-26-2006, 11:32 PM
So far what i know is you can only put applications in the menu bar if the application allows it in the preferences. Otherwise you are s.o.l.

As for fruitmenu durcam is right but you can edit the apple menu and you can add all the applications into there so you just have to click on the apple symbol and then click the program you wont. If anyone wants it with a serial let me know, and i will upload it for ya.

Yeah, I just learned the command key trick today, but that works only to remove a MenuBar item (10.3.9). I held Command down as I drug of the Modem icon. It went *poof* just like they do when you yank one off the dock.

Could not Command-drag an Application icon on to the Menu Bar. That's a different trick, which I'll tackle next WK. I'll make the other thread (http://www.sputtergutter.net/forums/showthread.php?t=12898) in Support the chronicle..

So it has a Package scheme kind of like an Application.
Aye aye aye. I can see this is over my head. I'm gonna have to find a proggie or haxie that will make a simple .Menu plugin for me. Xcode?

.. if you go to /System/Library/CoreServices/Menu Extras and click, on say Eject.menu, it will put an Eject button up there for you. "Open With..."-ing shows only SystemUIServer (default) as an option. I had to use Graphic Converter to get a closer look at the Plugin.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Menu_extra
^ that is first real helpful thing I found after an hour of searching.

It tells there are two ways to skin a cat:

NSStatusItem class menu extra (Apple)
NSMenuExtra class menu extra (non-Apple)

It gives this Apple Developer link (http://developer.apple.com/documentation/Cocoa/Reference/ApplicationKit/Classes/NSStatusItem_Class/index.html) for those seeking How-To on creating a menu extra.
But this one (http://cocoadevcentral.com/articles/000078.php) might be more digestible.

I have Panther running on my PB, and I am more or less disinclined to any tricking out. Leopard is going to be out this year, and I think I will upgrade.
Spaces alone will be worth it to me.

On a PC there's the great 'temporary internet files' where everything gets cached, so you can collect images, downloads from there & not have to save everything.

There must be an equivalent on a mac? If so, is it on the same basis & where is it?

Junkboxy
03-03-2007, 09:34 PM
Camino = /Users/~username/Library/Caches/Camino/Cache
Firefox = /Users/~username/Library/Caches/Firefox/Profiles/default.mp0/Cache
Opera = /Users/~username/Library/Caches/Opera/Cache
Safari = Safari (and Shiira) uses a gnarly system of folders & sub-folders. Don't use it for things you'll want access via the cache

hungarianstud
03-04-2007, 01:03 AM
Junkboxy just nailed that one. good work sir.

I was pretty sure there was a way for safari to. I remember durcam tellin me about it once but i don't remember.

Junkboxy
03-04-2007, 01:29 AM
..actually that one I put for Camino is obsolete. I don't know where the newest Camino 1.0.3 is now caching. You know Hungo?

hungarianstud
03-04-2007, 01:44 AM
I am not quite sure. I don't really use Camino. Isn't it in the same place. They couldn't have really moved it.

But safari isn't to hard. It is in /Users/~username/Library/Caches/Safari/... and then just do a search for what you are lookin for. I think thats the way i did it. But don't quote me on that one. haha.

Junkboxy
03-04-2007, 02:13 AM
..yeah, and /Users/~username/Library/Caches/Safari/ has 15 folders labeled 00 thru 15. And each one of those folders also has 15 folders labeled 00 thru 15. So we have 15 X 15 = 225 folders of cache. And the contents are all files with names like 3311984335-4092039355.cache.

Yikes. I don't see how you could search for anything in that forest. Nothing ends with .jpg or .mov -- it's all .cache

Apple obviously wanted to make it difficult for users to get content from the cache folders, methinks

hungarianstud
03-04-2007, 02:20 AM

To search Safari cache for something you're currently downloading
Open up a Finder window & go to Users/~username/Library/Caches/Safari
Hit Command-F to open a Find window and go to "Specific Places".
Drag the little "Safari" folder icon at the top of the Safari finder window into the "Find" window. It should automatically check it's box off. Uncheck any other boxes.
Under "Search for items whose:"
Use a DATE MODIFIED IS TODAY for sure
And maybe use a SIZE IS GREATER THAN

Try this , nice to return for a bit , good luck all.......

Product Description:
A drag & drop can opener and data archaeologist. It's speciality is to find and extract images, video, audio or text from files which are hard to open in other ways.

It finds and extracts: JPEG, PNG, GIF, PDF, BMP, WMF, EMF, PICT, TIFF, Flash, Zip, HTML, WAV, AVI, MOV, MP4, MPG, MP3, AIFF, AU, WMV or text from files which contain data in those formats.

Lossless extraction.
File Juicer does't convert the images/sounds/videos it finds, but saves them unchanged in their original format when possible. See the maual for details about supported formats.

This is useful:
if you have old files you can no longer open with current applications,
if you receive emails with attachments you can not open,
if you have corrupt files or databases,
if you have damaged or acidentally erased flash cards for your digital camera,
if you receive "self extracting" EXE files designed for Windows,
or if this is just faster than copying and pasting from the file.
When you have extracted some files - for instance from a accidentally erased flash card, you can then check that they are intact with QuickTime Player or convert them with other applications. For images, checking validity is done by letting File Juicer generate icons for the files. Then the files with icons are the ones which are intact.

File Juicer has Automator support so you can save just the settings you need and use them directly from Finder.
What's new in this version:
New: Spanish localization - thanks to Fran Iglesias.
New: Portuguese localization - thanks to Luis Damas
Fixed: Sometimes File Juicer could not start on Mac OS 10.3.9
Product Requirements:
Mac OS X 10.3.9 or higher
This product is designed to run on the following operating systems:
Mac OS X 10.3.9
Mac OS X 10.4 PPC
Mac OS X 10.4 Intel

he he ... durcam fucked up bad! I feel 4 U man. You obviously must have been in hyper tweaker mode to accidentally delete your Utilities folder. I popped in my Panther Software Install & Restore disc to see if I could Finder where the Utilites were.

I think they are lumped together in a package that isn't obviously labeled with the word "utilities" anywhere in the name.

I think it may be this one:
/Volumes/PowerBook\ G4\ Software/System/Installation/Packages/AdditionalApplications.mpkg

A few others in that same Packages folder are:
MicrosoftIE.pkg
iPhoto.pkg
Essentials.pkg

This makes sense to keep some of them individually separate, so they may be chosen/unchosen during a Custom version of the installation process. Maybe the Utilities are actually in the Essentials package, who knows.

I installed the one called French.pkg just for the hey of it. I didn't care if my French language files got rewritten, so I figured it was a good one to experiment with. Well, after selecting my HD as the destination, I never got any further information as to what or where exactly it was being written. So its risky to manually install one of those if you don't know exactly what the package is.

I don't have anything Tiger, so i can't help u there.

I got this app called " Folder glance " that pops up the contextual menu with a 1 button mouse without holding down control , in the "Finder" or on the "Desktop" .

I just installed "Speed Tools" which installs into "Utilities" instead of "Applications" , and I forgot what happened next and then the "Utilities" folder was gone , I think I hit the "Move to trash command" in the "contextual menu" pop-up, wierd man wierd 

How can I straight download MMS and RTPS files?

For one example: I couldn't even get the Mac WWDC Keynote speech to download. I drilled down to eventually get the real link:
rtsp://a2047.v1411b.c1411.g.vq.akamaistream.net/5/2047/1411/2_h264_650/1a1a1ae454c430950065de4cbb2f94c226950c7ae655b61a48 a91475e243acda3dac194879adde0f/99427722_2_650.mov

I thought VLC Beta offered the best hope, but can't get it done there. Its in the new Hp.234 format - or whatever its called. New VLC may not be up to par for encapsulating that new format.

Maybe there is a Firefox extension that will record them?

Flying under the radar of last week's barrage of iPod and iPhone news was the release of a new Mac OS X 10.4.11 build to third-party developers.
advertisement

Builds 8S151 (PowerPC) and 8S2151 (Intel) feature a handful of additional fixes, including ones targeted at system hangs at shutdown when unmounting an NFS volume, audio drift glitches, incorrect size reporting on Sun Mass Storage Devices, and more.

Known issues include problems applying the update over previous 10.4.11 builds and an issue with FireWire drives not mounting on Intel systems, suggesting a final release is likely at least one or two weeks away, if not longer.

Mac OS X 10.4.11 is expected to be the last update to Tiger prior to the release of Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard in October.

Dammit , I saw the title and dove in , but no luck :) hahahaha If you use an Imac , just get "crossover" from the 'Demon' , and you should be able to use Windows apps without 'booting' into Windows...........

CrossOver Mac allows you to install your favorite Windows applications and games on Mac OS X. CrossOver includes an easy to use, single click interface, which makes installing Windows software simple and fast. Once installed, your application integrates seamlessly in OS X. Just click and run your application directly from the OS X Finder. Clicking a Windows file or document - including email attachments - will launch the appropriate Windows program, allowing you to work on the files. Best of all, you do it all easily and affordably, without needing a Microsoft operating system license.

Apple is expected to announce its initial European plans for the iPhone at a London media event on Tuesday, September 18. The company sent out invitations to the event early Thursday sporting the slogan "Mum is no longer the word".

The consensus is that Apple will announce partnerships with O2 in the United Kingdom, Orange in France, and T-Mobile in Germany, despite rival wireless carrier Vodafone's larger customer base. The iPhone is expected to be available only in those three countries at launch.

Meanwhile, speculation remains high that the European-spec iPhone will differ slightly from the U.S. version, with the possibility of a 16GB version or 3G-equipped phone being announced. Sources have been unable to obtain any concrete data on such an announcement, however.

The London media event, which will be held at Apple's flagship store on Regent Street, will arrive one week before Apple Expo Paris kicks off on September 25. Apple is exhibiting at Apple Expo, but no keynote is expected to be delivered by Apple there.

How about installing the latest 'Flash' and making it stick ? I un-install all previous versions ( uninstaller provided at adobe's site ) , use "Pseudo" ( versiontracker.com) to run installer as root and there you go. You could use Terminal , but , that's a pain though.

Repairing Disk at log-in , after power outage or bad install or Disk malfunction , use "fsck" , power down , then press 'option' + s while powering back up to get to the 'fsck' screen .

Type in one of the 'fsck' commands shown , hit enter , wait until it say's "Volume appears to be ok" then type in reboot , hit enter , and there you go , you can run this even if you have no probs , keep's Disc happy.....:D:013::013:

I've been using the new Leopard for almost a week:

I like it but I'll list a few issues; see if any one else has run across them:

-Spaces didn't work to well once; after Spacing back once, I couldn't get it to show all of Safari's windows. I've since downplayed it from 4 spaces to 2 and haven't seen any funny business since.
-Can't wake up from sleep properly because of FirmTek eSata card; don't know if this is the fault of a weak driver from FirmTek or something in Leopard or an innate drawback of eSata technology (I have to unmount drive, then stop the card before sleeping)
-How do I get my freakin iTunes libary re-imported?

iTunes has my lib now. Can't remember if I copied it over wholesale or what.

I just use the Firewire cord for my external drive - haven't bothered wasting anytime researching what the deal with eSata is ( but it sure is lame.)

Spaces better have its bug fixed in 10.5.2. Miklewski of Mac|Life called it out also. If an app "disappears" during Spacing, you can make it "reappear" by disabling Spaces in System Prefs.

All-in-all I have to say I think Leopard rocks. Of course it was actually Tiger+Leopard for me, since I never upgraded to Tiger.
