This weekend was a big disapointment for boxing with the cancelation of the Corrales/Castillo fight. The next big fight coming up is the Tarver/Hopkins bout on June 10th. This is supposed to be Hopkins farewell fight and i hope he beats Tarver's ass. It sucks though that its on PPV though so i'll be waiting the weekend after the fight to see it on HBO. I think Hopkins has a good shot at winning this fight since hes bulking up big time and seems to be having a great training camp. Tarver has to move down in weight and i think it is gonna take more of a toll on his body since reports have been he was in heavyweight shape for the filming of Rocky 6.

Hopkins defeated Tarver by unanimous decision (118-109 three times on the official judges' scorecards), Bernard "The Executioner" Hopkins becomes the new light heavyweight champion. Now Tarver has to give $250,000 to Hopkins. The bet that Tarver made was that if he didnt knockout Hopkins by the 5th RD he'd owe that money and give it to a charity of Hopkins choice. The irony is Hopkins punched Tarver with a hard right in the 5th and staggered Tarver enough that his glove touched the canvas to keep himself from falling down and if the glove touches the ground its considered a knockdown. Im glad Hopkins won and now he can retire a champion. Thats if he stays retired.

yeah, i was surprised by the outcome considering the last two fights i saw of each fighter. hopkins did beat the snot out of him pretty consistently for all 12 rounds. now i just hope he sticks to his guns and retires. its rare that a boxer goes out on top.

Looking foward to the big fight between Jermain Taylor and Winky Wright this saturday. Good thing its on HBO and not PPV. Come to think of it if this fight is not on PPV no boxing should be. I hope Wright kills this dude. Taylor to me is good but is overrated. He did not impress me in the Hopkins fights. Hopkins impressed me more cause Hopkins fought back pretty good in the late rounds in their first fight but of course it was too late and Hopkins does start late in fights but he did it too late. Wright has impressed me with his dominating performance over Trinidad and his two fights against a then great Sugar Shane Mosley. Im going for Wright to win this fight. And we can see the replay of the Tarver/Hopkins bout.

Also in boxing news Diego Corrales is suing that pansy Castillo for not making weight in their June 3rd bout. I would of done the same thing if i was Corrales working my ass off and training to make weight for that big million dollar payday and then getting robbed of a fight and not being able to earn that money. The suit is asking for the payment of Corrales' $1.2 million purse, another $750,000 for promoter Gary Shaw Productions LLC and $10 million in punitive damages. Damn hes trying to get deep in those pockets.

Seen the fight between Hopkins and Tarver. Hopkins dominated the whole fight except about 2 rounds. Some rounds were slow and boring and others had some nice action going on. It wasnt a good fight but it was good enough too see Hopkins dominate the shit out of Tarver. The live fight was between Winky Wright and Jermain Taylor and this fight was good but ended in a draw. I would have to agree with this decision even though i hate draws. I may of gave Winky the last round even if he did run around the ring most of the time but he did throw punches and landed more than Taylor but some would give Taylor the round cause Winky in the last 20 seconds didnt do anything. They should have a rematch but in the interview with Wright he said he wouldnt do a rematch cause he felt like he should of won and felt he got screwed. Taylor didnt impress me in the Hopkins fights even though he won. He impressed me in this fight and his skill is getting a lot better with the training from Emanuel Steward.

Read that the other day, hope he takes him to the cleaner$ for pulling that shit a second time.
I was surprised how easily Hopkins won and how bad he made Tarver look.
I just hope now (that Taylor won too) they don`t go do that one a third time, cos the first two were ugly tiresome bitches :028:
I actually prefered the Taylor v Wright fight of the two though (far more competitive) and I gave it to Taylor by two.
Draws should be banned.

I thought the Wright/Taylor fight could of went either way in this pretty good match. Either Wright or Taylor by one round. I watched the fight over after the first time and its hard to give that 12th RD to. Even though Wright backed up most of the time in the 12th he still landed more. If i gave Wright the 12th my score would be 115-113 Wright cause i had the match even at the end of 10 RDs and Wright clearly won the 11th. If i gave Taylor the 12th the fight would be a draw. I hate draws to but sometimes its the right call cause this fight was so close. Maybe boxing needs a extra round after 12 in case the fight is a draw like the UFC did on The Ultimate Fighter but that wont happen.

Caught a glance of you mentioning something UFC and immediately had to haul ass outta that post,as The Ultimate Fighter 3 is still at the LHW semi-final stage in my part of town and I don`t wanna sniff any spoilers :027:

Saturdays big fight is on Showtime between Cory Spinks and Roman Karmazin for Karmazin's IBF Junior Middleweight championship. Hope this fight is good cause i been waiting to see Spinks in action since his last fight 17 months ago where he got KO'd by Zab Judah in the 9th or 10th RD. Hope Spinks can pull off the win. Both fighters are coming off long layoffs. Karmazin hasnt fought since over a year ago also.

Spinks won the fight with a majority decision. One judge had it 114-114, the other two had it 115-113 for Spinks who wins the IBF Junior Middleweight title. I aslo scored the fight 115-113 Spinks. This fight reminded me of the Taylor/Hopkins bouts where Karmazin like Hopkins started too late.
