Anybody know what causes the Username/Password dialogue "pop-down" prompt window to keep popping-down ad-infinitum,......

..Know what I mean? It doesn't matter how many times you click OK, it keeps popping down. Then you get sick of it, so you click "Cancel" instead. But it still keeps popping down with a new prompt.

I even disconnected the friggin' ethernet cable, but to know avail. "OK", "Cancel", . . it still doesn't matter even with no internet connection -- the pop-down window won't go away and relinquish control of my browser. So it seems to be a browser+code thing I guess..

In general.

Tonite it was members.realitypassplus.com. It got unlooped after I posted here. It seems that every JPG/GIF image has a pop-down connected to it.

That is, a main page (which usually has a load of picture elements) will only load each element after a pop-down has been OK'd. It's not even 'OKing' to the server-side (i.e. actually hand-shaking over the internet repeatedly with the serving website), its something that seems to happen self-contained in the browser.

I've seen it happen on ninamercede's site. And I have also seen her site load straight-up without all the pop-down fuss. (?)

I have only ever had that when attempting to enter the backdoor of some xxx establishment and the Pass/username combo is already dead and buried...1byday used to be the main culprit for me.
Seems it`s their little way of fucking with you for trying to fuck them.

The weird thing about what I'm talking about is:
The site has already acknowledged a valid user/pass and has begun to load.
Then, after loading the first 10% or 20%, it starts popping-down with more user/pass prompts as it gets to the meaty part of the page where all the clickable GIFs are.
Its seems that there is a pop-down prompt for each and every clickable GIF that is trying to load. I disconnected the internet cable during this, but that didn't stop the pop-down prompts at all. It seems that they are actually already queued up in memory, but the stinkin' browser won't display them until they've been OK'd.

It strikes me as a glitchy thing that I should be able to address with a config somewhere.

I think that you might have some spyware or a virus from that site. I know AD version something-or-another had a problem with it like this, but it kept popping up a web page in new windows to the tune of 70-100 windows. You had to basically shut down your PC to get it to stop, and then run a spyware/anti-virus program. So this is might thought on it.

I'm using a Mac, so it isn't malware. I've seen this thing happen when trying to load one of ninamercede's video list pages, also. It thought it might have something to do with the Privoxy I was running, but I took that out, and it still did it. With her page, I think I actually counted --- I got a prompt for each clickable GIF. That seems to be the connection.
