Windows XP has a built-in firewall. If you have XP--which nearly 100% of PCs built since 2002 do--why not use that?

Sygate (http://www.tucows.com/preview/213160) has a decent free one if you dont want to use a Micro$oft product :D

Windows XP firewall only controls what tries to enter, but does not control what a program, like a trojan, sends from your computer to a hacker....

To be clearer, Windows XP firewall controls what enters but not what goes out....so it's not a complete firewall...

I use Agnitum Outpost Firewall, which is free and not a Micro$oft product ;) The jury's still out on that product for me, however.
