I tried to use the PayPal to donate to SG. I go thru the whole rigmarole, hit enter, think I'm gonna be done, and then its:

The amount of this transaction exceeds your remaining sending limit and cannot be processed at this time..

WTF are they talking about. I couldn't have crossed no limit because I never sent nothing previously - no nothing on the credit card, no nothing via the PayPal account. Then it says:

You will need to add and confirm your bank account. Once your bank account has been added and confirmed, you can continue this payment. Add your bank account information below.

WTF again. So PayPal is requiring me to provide both a credit card AND a bank account to facilitate me sending $25. Are they crazy, do they really think I'm gonna give their shady ass my bank account and a routing number?

My old man said it best: Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeit!

They send you a random amount of money and you confirm what was sent if you use a debit card. Credit as well I believe.

I never had a problem with them. Must be a glitch.

Well I have them go through my bank account. I hate it but when they first came on the scene that was the only choice, no cc option. Now they want my cc numbers too. I hate the bastards but they're owned by Ebay which explains why they're being difficult (Ebay is the devil).

That is what I had to do too, and it was not a big deal. I have never heard anything negative about Paypal until this thread. About the only bad thing I hear is the amount spam that acts like they are paypal but are not.

Supraman can you clarify that one...i'm not gettin it...whadya mean 'random amount of money'?

This is like the third time I've tried to accomplish a mere $25 transaction, and each time its one thing or another.

Aside from that, I've formed a skeptical view of PayPal. The thing that sticks out is that PayPal is not a bank - it's really it's own kind of animal - and technically doesn't have any regulatory oversight. PayPal has been called out for weak or misrepresentative legal disclosures, freezing people's money in their PayPal accounts without notice, and charging bank accounts instead of credit cards.

Got a major problem with PayPal? Contact your state AG, hope that enough people like you do the same to build up a critical mass, wait for your AG to initiate legal stuff with PayPal, and then 3 years later, there will be an announced agreement.

It seems to be the Eliot Spitzers of the world getting busy on this tip; I've not come across anything Federal to do with it..

Well when you use a bank account, they send you a small random amount of money. Mine was like $0.13 and $0.14. Then you enter in what the amount were. I didn't have to do that for a credit card though.

The thing I don't like about paypal is if you get screwed it's never a definite chance of getting your money back.

PP does kinda suck hard at times... we had to get a separate account just for this place 'cause there's no way in hell i was gonna have anything personal linked to PP. as for when i buy stuff using PP, i always use my CC funds so if anything goes wrong, PP can dick it out with my CC company and i don't have to deal with anything.

Maybe they don't like my VISA card for some reason. It ain't attached to me - its one of those gift cards you can buy at the drugstore. They've never called it out for that reason though. But one time, I saw they actually charged a dollar to the CC. I think that was a PENDING type transaction. That one dollar eventually got refunded, cuz I got the full $25 of credit line back after that.
