View Full Version : Unsolved Mysteries -- Am I Alone?

I'm a total nut when it comes to the unexplained.
I ravenously pursue and research unsolved mysteries...cryptozoology, ETs and UFOs, lost cities, conspiracy theories, the paranormal.
If it's outside the norm, I'm all over it.
Am I the only nut case in here? Or is there another Fox Mulder type lurking in the Gutter?:013:

Nah I like this stuff too. Just don't mention it to many people for fear of being taken away in a white jacket.

I liked the JFK controversy. But I generally don't get into much other conspiracy theories such as 9/11 other than what Michael Moore has said about Bush.
For example, I don't think the WTC was brought down by explosives as some folks do. I mean al-Qaeda is smart and brutal, but not that sophisticated.
I think sometimes the brain makes up these types of controversies because they are so hard to fathom either logically or emotionally. Newsweek just had a great article about how fucked-up our brains are, that some areas are much more advanced, while others are quite primitive, and, as a result, don't work real well with each other.

I haven't seen a shred of evidence that indicates any kind of domestic 9/11 conspiracy. And Gods know I've looked for it!!!
As far as conspiracies go...wishful thinking makes coincidence look like proof. Preconceptions distort facts and implications into what your personal POV wants them to be.
Cryptozoology is my big thing. Not CRAPtozoology as Penn and Teller call it. I could lecture you ad nauseum about Chupacabra, Moth-man, Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, and why they do/don't exist.

You mention Penn and Teller. I love their show Bullshit! on Showtime . . . it debunks a lot of stuff. Has anyone else seen it?

One of my side projects is a website...
http://e-nexusone.com/
There's sections on mysteries, true crime, gaming, and assorted non-porn topics.
Our own beloved HungarianStud popped in a while back, and gave it two well-hung thumbs up.
Didn't know if anyone would be interested. Didn't want to be an A-hole, and spam the place.:D

You bastard spammer! :diespam:
JK!! I think I popped my head in there once awhile back when you advertised on another thread. I'm not much for conspiracies either, I think there's usually an agenda in there somewhere. Also don't believe in Nessy or Big Foot, but find alot of credence in UFO sightings.

ufo's are about the only one of those type of things that interest me. i have seen some pretty compelling evidence for their existence.

The way I look at UFO stuff is even if only 1% of the people who say they've seen stuff are telling the truth then there may be something to it. Anyway check out this site for a bunch of cool vids. Some I think are crap but some are pretty neat. This guy even points out which ones he thinks are bullshit.

The conspiracy theorists usually come off as crackpots, but the universe is just too big to not at least acknowledge that there could be other life out there more advanced than us.

That's not proof. Just another unnamed dark thingy in the water.

Yeah that's what I was thinking. Very vague. Now if a head popped up and looked around.....now we're talking! But they're making a big deal of it over in Great Britain I guess.

Here in Virginia, we have the Chesapeake Bay Monster, which is alleged to be our local venison of Nessie. However, there's even LESS proof of 'Chessie' than there is of it's Loch Ness cousin.
I've not even found a good photo to post of it. From what I've gathered, most sightings are by out-of-towners who spot one or more aquatic animals -- whales, dolphins, manatees, sea turtles, etc... - from a distance, and don't know what to make of it. When they talk to a a local, they hear about Chessie, and BOOM! The incident gets written up as a sighting.

Yeah they have the same thing up here in Lake Champlain. They call him Champ, but same thing hardly any pictures or credible sightings. It's all just to boost tourism.

My audio system is FUBAR'd. No sound on the PC. It looks like something I've already seen. I think it's an elaborate fake.

Yeah it was kinda cool but the actors around it like "Victor" were overacting, or underacting. They just didn't sell it. Maybe with better actors or even non-actors they could've given this thing a more realistic feel. Cause the puppet was pretty good. Try and watch it with a better audio BD.

Spina's classification of demons
Alfonso de Spina, in 1467 A.D., prepared a classification of demons based on several criteria:
Fates
Poltergeists
Incubi and Succubi
Armies
Familiar spirits
Nightmares
Those produced by intercourse with humans
Those in disguise
Those who assail saints
Those who persuade
Alphonsus de Spina, in 1467, published his Fortalicium Fidei (Fortress of the Faith). He became a professor at the University of Salamanca and later a bishop of the church. He was consdidered an authority on all things theological, including demonology. He concluded that there are ten orderes of demons and that they totalled in the millions. He categorized the demons as falling into nine specific types. He also divided them into classes according to what their purposes are. Following the list of the demonic names and ranks are the explanations of the types and orders as de Spina recorded them.
From the Catholic Encyclopedia.....
Spanish Franciscan, date of birth unknown; died about 1491. A convert from Judaism, he was for many years superior of the house of studies of the Friars Minor at Salamanca, and in 1491 was created Bishop of Thermopylæ in Greece.
Besides the "Fortalitium", Alfonso de Spina published at least three other works:
(1) Sermones de Nomine Jesu Vigintiduos, issued about 1454 (erroneously confounded with the "Fortalitium" by Oudin);
(2) "Sermones plures de excellentia nostræ fidei", preached in 1459;
(3) a treatise on fortune, dedicated to John, King of Castile (1404-54).
