Has any one else heard that the new PS3 will not play burned or borrowed CDs, DVDs or games. I guess they're going to try and set a president for the future of multimedia as we know it. I understand they've got a lot to protect with just their own movies and music,but do you think this will hurt or help the sales of the PS3?

it might hurt a little. but it wont bother me. i rather use my regular dvd player at least with that i can see what scene im at and the time and i can fast foward a hell of alot quicker with a regular dvd player. if i listen to music i use my stereo system.

However, I have a thought on something else about the ps3. Mainly, it's about all the financial analysts who are saying the high price tag may hurt sony. I think they're saying this in order to drive the share price down so when the ps3 is released and flies off the shelves leading to a rise in sony's stock price, the analysts and their clients can make off with a nice profit.

Since its European launch in November 2000, sales of the PlayStation 2 console to consumers in the SCEE territories have reached almost 40 million units.

Pardon to those whose favorite color is pink. However, I really can't imagine why anyone would want to own a pink PS2 or PSP. I guess Sony just wants to exhaust all market for PS2 and PSP before coming out with their PS3.

Thanks for this, it really annoys me to see this rumor touted as truth wherever I go.

As for the graphics, on paper the PS3 is more powerful than the X360. However, given the complexities of programming for such a radical architecture, you will not see a difference at all in the beginning. Even in the end you won't see much of a difference as the performance gap is not as large as say the gap between the PS2 and the Xbox.

well ps2 is still going strong and I just got one myself. Though I opted to get the limited silver version. Yeah came into the ps2 scene kinda late. I still prefer xbox over ps2 anyday cuz of better technology, but ps2 has some games that xbox doesn't have. And at there momment there is now way to get your hands on a ps3 anyways. I have psp and it's great and I wouldn't mind buy another one if they came out with a transparent one.

As for the pink ps2's and psp I'd totally buy those systems!!... IF I WERE A GIRL!!:p

hmm... I own the 360, xbox, psp and a ps2

of course I love my 360 the most. I'm gonna probably end up getting the Wii & the ps3 late spring 2007. I'm not fan of consoles, but rather the games. And if the same game comes out for all consoles I'll get the one that is displayed the best for that particular console, but most of the time every console has games that are exclusive to them and every console has an exclusive game that I like. So that is why I'll end up getting every console.

Well i was goin to go out and get one. One of my friends works as a security gaurd at one of the local malls. He was goin to get me in nice and early to be the rush and the huge line ups since the only had 2 of them at the particular store. I was goin to turn around and sell it on ebay since they where goin for $2000 - $3000. I would have made a killin but something else came up and i wasn't able to get one.

I think i will wait. But i really want that Blue Ray capablity. Thats sweet. :)

Had my 60G ps3 for about 3 years now. I was playing on cod5 then it suddenly turned off iam like ok then i turned it back on then the screen went mad then it turned itself off again about 15 seconds later with the 3 beebs then the red light so i new there was something wrong i thought it was a over heating problem and it was.
So i went to get it fixed which cost me £50 wich i thought was ok then it was working for about a week then a new problem developed now it doesnt read discs which proper pissed me off now iam resulting to gettin a new ps3 slim sod spending any more money on it

Just a quick heads up about the PS3 Slim; Apparently they have overheating problems, since Sony removed a fair bit of hardware to get the size down. You may have to invest in a intercooling device as well, but some people say they do more bad than good.
