I know it might be a little early and all but if there is enough interest I wouldn't mind doing a FFL. And no Hungarianstud, I DON'T mean soccer! World Cup is done and over with already! :010:

i'm interested, how would you set it up? well once we get enough people, say atleast 8 -10 we would decide how we want scoring and such to be handled. this is just to get an idea of whos interested and how many people there are.

how would you set it up?
Yahoo and other places like ESPN have free leagues that anyone can start. I do believe that Yahoo has a setup where you can make a private league and only people with a password can join. This is the way I would go. That way we can set it up for like 24 teams or whatever and off we go. There are a ton of different features that you can impliment into this too. I'll do some checking, but I don't want to run the damn thing. Someone else can be responsible for that.
BTW: I'm In!

I've never played in a FFL (and frankly I don't follow much NFL since they don't have a team in LA!!!), but I would like to give it a try, Schweaty, especially if it could be done as easily as Parker suggests.

BTW: I'm In! yeah i was thinking yahoo, i've used that the past two years and it works well enough to get the job done. id really like to do a live draft if at all possible. ranking players and then letting the system do the draft sucks. there again its all up to the people interested and finding a time we can all be on to draft. as far as being the commish goes, i wouldn't mind giving it a shot.

I like the live draft too. Let's keep this thread going and have everyone interested in doing this voice there opinion here. That way we get a feel how many people want to join.

I don't follow football to much either but this sounds like it would be fun.
The rules would have to be explained to me though.

Yea, I don't watch American Football hardly at all, but I'd join up, in the name of fun.
I'm a Canadian Football guy, you know CFL. Yea the league is pretty shitty, but I like it.

ok guys thats 7 so far. it just so happens that i have a free commish account with EA Sports after purchasing NFL Headcoach for PC. if we have beginners in the league i dont think we should go with an advanced scoring system. we should keep it simple for those unfamiliar to FF, besides this is just for fun :D seems like a live draft is the popular choice thus far but working around schedueles and time differences might be tricky. we could always do a draft on the forums here through the corse of a week or so but that might get tedious. input fellas, this is our league :)

here is the FAQ from EA, might help answer some questions. as far as player pools we should use the entire NFL for the draft and a head to head schedule imo. we can have up to 32 teams and 4 dicisions.
Q. Can I customize my home page?
A. No. The ability to customize the home page where you can move around certain sections, change colors, etc. is not an option.
Q. Can each owner pay a portion of the league fee?
A. No. The entire $49.99 fee must be paid by the commissioner at the time the league is created. The league commissioner may choose to collect league fees from other owners offline.
Q. Will my league have its own message board?
A. Yes, each league will have access to its own private league message board.
Q. How do I get people to join my league?
A. The Football Commissioner product is intended for leagues that already exist. You must invite each owner to join the league by submitting his/her email address on the team setup page. Commissioner leagues cannot be made "public."
Q. Can I post league news with images?
A. Yes, any owner in the league can post a league message to appear on the league home page. You will also be given the option to upload an image and enter a caption for the image to accompany the message.
Q. What is the difference between this product (Football Commissioner) and the Team Owner?
A. The Football Commissioner is fully customizable. You can select the number of teams in your league, the scoring system, number of players on each roster, free agent method, etc. It's the perfect tool for those that have an existing league with rules already defined or for those that want to create a new league and create their own rules. For those that prefer to have us set the rules of their league, or do not have enough players to form an entire league, Team Owner is the game for you.
Q. Can I send emails to owners in my league?
A. Yes, will have the option to send email through the league site to individual teams or to all teams at once.
Q. Can teams in my league upload team logos?
A. Yes, each team has the option to upload an image to use as its team logo which will be displayed throughout the site. In addition, your league can upload a league logo to be displayed on the league home page.
Q. How will other owners know to access the site?
A. After the commissioner submits the owner names and e-mail addresses during setup, each owner will be sent an email invitation with the league name and password and instructions on how to join.
Q. Can I assign co-owners to teams in my league?
A. Yes. Any number of co-owners can be assigned to a team on the owners page during league setup. An email invitation will be sent to each co-owner.
Q. I have a keeper league, can I track keeper players and retain rosters season-to-season?
A. Yes. There is an option in the league setup for commissioners to enter rosters for all teams. There is also an option to mark players as "keepers." Any player marked as a keeper will automatically be removed from the player pool during an online draft.
Q. How much does it cost to setup a league?
A. $49.99 per league. The payment must be made in full by the commissioner when the league is created.

Basic Setup
Q. Can the same player be drafted on two different teams in my league in different divisions.
A. No. The same player cannot appear on 2 different teams even if they are in different divisions.
Q. Can I give other owners access to the commissioner functions?
A. Yes. In the league setup, under TEAMS, select the "Commish Access" box next to any owner you want to have commissioner privileges.
Q. Can I set up a league using only players from one conference?
A. Yes, you may choose a player pool that consists of all players (AFC/NFC mixed), just AFC players or just NFC players.
Q. How many teams can my league have?
A. You may have a league size anywhere from 4 to 32 teams.
Q. Can I assign teams in my league to different divisions?
A. Yes, you can choose between 1 and 4 divisions depending on the # of teams in your league.
Return to Top (http://fantasy.easports.com/football/cfaq.asp?imageNavSelect=sim%5Fhelp#top)
Scoring
Q. I want to award points for a shutout for team defenses and then subtract points for points allowed. How can I set that up?
A. First, choose "points against" in the list of scoring categories in the league setup. You must have team defense or defense/special teams selected as a roster position in order for that scoring category to be an option. Then, click on the "bonus" button on that category to display the first bonus. If, for example, you want to award 20 points for a shutout and then subtract 2 points for every 6 points allowed, enter the following: Award a bonus of 20 points @ 0 PtsA From 1 to * PtsA, award -2 points for every 6 PtsA.
Q. My league awards 6pts for a receiving TD for WR's and 9pts for TE's. Can I award different points for stat categories by position?
A. This is not a feature available with the Football Commissioner.
Q. Will live scoring be available during the season?
A. Yes, live scoring is a feature included at no extra cost.
Q. What are head-to-head leagues?
A. In a Head-to-Head league, your team will square off in a weekly match-up against another team in your league to see who can compile the most points across the different statistical categories you choose.
Q. What is a points-based league?
A. This is a league where a specific value is assigned to each stat a player earns. All of these stats are tabulated into fantasy points for each team. Those totals are used to determine leaders for each scoring period you choose.
Q. What scoring systems are available?
A. You may choose between head-to-head or total points scoring.
Return to Top (http://fantasy.easports.com/football/cfaq.asp?imageNavSelect=sim%5Fhelp#top)
Schedule
Q. My league uses a head-to-head system. How will the league schedule be determined?
A. Your schedule will be set randomly based on the settings you choose in the schedule portion of the league setup. Or, the commissioner can choose to manually enter the entire regular season and playoff schedules.
Q. Can I schedule teams with bye weeks?
A. Yes, you may include byes in your regular season and playoff schedules.
Q. My league doesn't include the last week of the regular season. Can I not include those games in scoring?
A. Yes, you'll have the option in the league setup to not include week #17 in the schedule. The commissioner may also manually set the schedule, so he/she can determine every match-up during the season.
Return to Top (http://fantasy.easports.com/football/cfaq.asp?imageNavSelect=sim%5Fhelp#top)
Rosters
Q. Can I include an injured reserve list for team rosters?
A. Yes, you can choose between 1 and 10 IR roster spots. Any player placed on an IR roster spot will not count towards that team's roster maximums. It is up to the commissioner of the league to police which players teams are allowed to place on the IR.
Q. Can I use the team QB position?
A. Yes, the team QB position is an option. The team QB position earns a team points for all stats earned by the active quarterback(s) for that team.
Q. During the season, will teams receive points if they field an invalid lineup?
A. You have the option during setup to allow or not allow teams to receive points in the standings if they field an invalid lineup.
Q. Can I select individual defensive players?
A. Yes, all individual defensive players are available. You may also use team defenses.
Return to Top (http://fantasy.easports.com/football/cfaq.asp?imageNavSelect=sim%5Fhelp#top)
Transactions
Q. Can my league use a bidding system for free agents?
A. Yes. The Football Commissioner will provide an automated way to track this type of free agent system. Each team will start out with a designated amount of money to bid on free agents during the season, with the top bid awarded that player. The commissioner of your league can set the total dollars each team starts the season with to bid on players. All bids during the season must be made in $1 increments and the minimum bid is $1 for all leagues.
Q. How often can teams in my league set lineups?
A. You can choose for lineups to lock at the start of the first game of the week, at the start of the first game of the day, at the start of each game, or 30 minutes prior to the start of each game.
Q. My league charges transaction fees. Can these be tracked online automatically?
A. Yes. In the league setup, the commissioner has the option to set league and transaction fees. During the season, any transactions made will update the amount owed for each owner on the transaction history and team finances pages.
Q. When do my waiver claims get processed and when can I use new players?
A. Any player added to a roster will be placed on a team's roster effective for the following week. The commissioner has the option to choose the amount of time a dropped player remains on waivers and if all players go on waivers once games start for the week. If your league uses a bidding system or a system where players not on rosters are always on waivers, you will have the option to choose the day and time when the bids/waiver claims will be processed. At the time the claims or bids are processed, the players are awarded to each team and can be used for the following week.
Q. What are waivers?
A. Typically, fantasy leagues use a waiver system to allow all members of a league a fair opportunity to add a player to their team. Players that are dropped from a roster of another team in your league can be placed on waivers. Any team may claim a player on waivers, but will not be awarded the player until the waiver period has ended. When the waiver period ends, the players are awarded to teams based on the waiver system selected in the setup. After a player "clears waivers" he becomes a free agent and can be picked up by any team.
Q. My league uses an auction bidding system to add free agents. If only one bid is submitted for a player, will the entire winning bid amount be deducted from that owner's free agent balance, or just $1?
A. The entire bid amount is always deducted, regardless of the amount of the 2nd place bid, if any.
Q. What choices do I have to award players on waivers/free agents?
A. You can choose to use a waiver priority list that does not reset, a priority list that resets each week based on standings, a free agent bidding system, or you can choose to handle all free agent/waiver pickups offline through the commissioner of the league.
Return to Top (http://fantasy.easports.com/football/cfaq.asp?imageNavSelect=sim%5Fhelp#top)
Draft
Q. What type of drafts are available?
A. During setup, the commissioner may choose from five different draft types; live, email, single-list automated, multi-list automated, or an offline draft.
Q. What is a "list" draft?
A. There are two different types of automated list drafts available: single-list and multi-list. With a single-list draft, the automated system will automatically draft each owner's team based on player rankings defined by the owner. In a multi-list draft, the automated system will automatically draft each owner's team based on player rankings by position defined by the owner. The multi-list draft also allows the owner to specify what position should be drafted in each round.
Q. What is "auto-pick"?
A. During the league setup, the commissioner will have the option to choose the number of successive missed picks needed before a team is placed on auto-pick. This is done to help speed up a draft that would slow down with a missing owner. When a team is placed on auto-pick, the live draft will automatically select a player for that team, based first on any players placed in the owner's queue, then based on pre-draft rankings.
Q. My league already exists and we keep players year-to-year. Can my league still use a live draft since each team already has players on their rosters?
A. Yes. The commissioner will have the ability to place players on team rosters prior to the draft. When the live draft begins, those players will already appear on the owner's rosters and will not be listed as available players for the draft.
Q. What happens if an owner fails to show up for a live draft or misses a pick?
A. If an owner is not present for a live draft, that owner will have players selected automatically based on pre-draft rankings made by that owner.
Q. Can the commissioner draft players for any team in the league during a live draft?
A. Yes, there will be an option for any owner with commissioner privileges to select a player for any other team during a live draft on the html draft page only.
Q. What is an email draft?
A. An email draft works similar to a live draft, just over a longer period of time (the java applet is not used during an email draft). All owners make player selections online when it's their teams turn to pick. An email is then automatically generated and sent to all league owners when a pick is made. The commissioner has the option to choose how much time each owner has to make each pick.
Q. Where do I go to enter my pre-draft rankings?
A. Click on "draft prep" under DRAFT on the league navigation bar at the left.
Q. What is a live draft?
A. The live draft option allows you to control every athlete that is placed on your roster. The draft will last as many rounds as you specify during setup. Draft order for the first round will be selected by the commissioner during setup. The order in which team owners draft reverses in each successive round, so that the owner who drafts first in the first round, will draft last in the second round, and so on. You will also have the option to choose how much time each team has to make a pick during a live draft and the commissioner will have the option to draft for any team in the league during a live draft. Q. Can I set the draft order for every round of my league's draft?
A. Yes. You may specify the draft order for the first round of your draft. By default, the draft order you set for the first round, will automatically "snake" every round, meaning the order you set for the first round will apply to odd-numbered rounds, and teams will draft in the reverse order during even-numbered rounds. So, the team with the first pick in the first round will have the last pick in the second round. If your league uses different draft rules, or trades draft picks, there is the option to change the draft order for any round in the league setup.

I'll leave this in here for a week or so more to get a few more players involved from the SB ranks. Then I'll move this to the Sports Chat section within the General Forum. So any SBers please chime in here as I do believe that you are getting the first open slots. Only so many people will be access. So hurry up!

I like the idea of different conferences and such. I'll move this thread tomorrow to the Sports Chat Section. Then I think everyone that wants to be in needs to have their info to you by say the 10th or 11th of Aug. This should give you enough time to set of a draft and figure how we're going to do this thing.

Hook me up!!! PM me with details. I love fantasy football and hope we get a live draft. But, I'm up to trying rules I'm not used to. I created a league last year that is the perfect set up for 8 people. 10 people has a little different format, but it's doable. The only other way is 16 people. If anybody is interested in the details, PM me. I think this might be a format that could be a profitable idea online. Serious Inquiries only!

I haven't got to my EMails yet, but if I'm reading right, the draft is on a Labor Day Sat. Umm, IMO it would be better say if we held the draft even this weekend. I for 1 no I'm going to be very busy that whole weekend starting on Thurs. But I guess if it can't be changed, I'll have to auto draft (which sucks)

How about those who's username start with "J" go first? :D
Just kidding, you could do something comepletely random. For example, you could go alphabetically by the third letter in the person's SG-1 username. For example, mine would be "R". And if two people have the same third letter, then go to the fourth, and so on. (Note: This is just an example. Don't yell at me if you think it is a stupid idea ;) )

I don't know how many of you have the Mega Millions Lottery where you live, but we can all pick a number betwwen 1- 70 and when the numbers ares drawn on the Friday before the draft, the person with the closest number to the PowerBall number can go first and so on with the next furthest away and what-not. That sounds like as good idea as any.
By the way, I need to verify the drafting round orders. It's going to be 1-8 in round one and then 8-1 in round two right? In other words, whoever drafts last in round one gets the first pick in round two, correct? (The only reason I ask is because I got screwed one year picking last in all rounds and, as you can imagine, did not get a very good team.)

Just log onto the yahoo site and manage what guys you like. Put them in priority of who you want to take first and so on. Then when the draft comes around, you'll have an auto draft and if you first pick is there, then you'll draft him. If he's not then it goes to the next guy on your list and sees if he is avalible and so on. So just be sure to pick a lot of players to make sure that you don't run out of guys for the auto draft to select for you.

Steven was a risky pick.
Actually, any Ram is a risky pick.
I know, but I'm kind of a homer in that regard. Picking #9 was kind of hard since all of the top running backs were off the board by then.
My RBs are risky, my WR corp is OK but could have been better. Heck, the only players I'm OK with is Carson Palmer at QB (I'm glad he looked good last night) and Tony Gonzales at TE. I'm going to need a lot of luck this year to do any damage...

You think you have it tough? The highest scorer on my team is my backup kicker. A kicker, for heaven's sake!
And what makes it worse, is that I was going to change kickers earlier in the week and then it slipped my mind and never got done. I'm such an idiot.
Hey, but at least the Rams won. Thanks to my back up kicker Jeff Wilkins!

Yep...My kicker was my highest scorer too. I have my TE playing tonight, and the only way I can win this weeks match-up is if Moss has a terrible game and my TE catches 4 TD and has like 100 yards. Then maybe and I mean maybe I can pull out a win.

This week sucks. I can't believe that I can have my team score 80 freaking points and still do down in defeat if Michael Vick has any kind of game on MNF. I mean, what are the odds that the Saints defense is going to hold him under nine points? Not very good I would say.

It is an interesting matchup. I'm not sure who will win but it is going to boil down to two games: Rams vs Packers and Cowboys vs Eagles. I hope that Steven Jackson goes off against that weak Packer D and that the Eagles are so concerned about Terrell Owens that they leave Glenn wide open for several scores.

My team's problems are that they cannot find the end zone. They can pile up the yards, but that really doesn't matter in a TD dependent league like this.

I have officially hit rock bottom in the SG-1 Fantasy Football League. Not only did I lose to the 0-8 Katrina, but he didn't even have an active QB and WR.

jdrock, make some transactions. Fantasy football really needs a lot of caressing and love. I moved some players around and "Voila" A VICTORY! Stick with it, man. I am 2-7 and 3-6 in other leagues. 4-5 in this one. In 12 years playing fantasy football, I made the playoffs once. I stomped the competition during the regular season and lost in the first round.

I know. I'm just frustrated. I was really expecting an easy win this week and BAM! I get beat by a guy that didn't even care enough to switch his QB and WR who were out and he got zero points from. Carson Palmer has been a huge disappointment for me. But I don't know who I would replace him with that might be better and available.

this is very true - I've done ff for 6 years now, and 1 move can make a big difference - I may suck in this league, but I'm 8-1 in another, 6-3 & 4-5 in others, and its amazing what one move can do for you. I won a league last year that i was sucking the first 3 weeks in, made a single receiver change, whent on a 6 week win streak and went into the playoffs i think 9-4 to carry through, so just keep at it!

I'm in kind of an awkward situation this week. I'm a Rams' fan in real life but am playing Creamy who has Marc Bulger and Torry Holt on his team. Meanwhile, I have Steven Jackson and Jeff Wilkins.

I read a story about that also (on ESPN.com I think). The story was about a defensive player from the Colts who has Tom Brady on his fantasy team. He had to sit him the week they played the Patriots because he didn't want to be thinking about it.
