View Full Version : Banned users... why does it happen?

in regards to the recent member-bannings... banning users is unfortunately a necessary thing we must occasionally do as forum staff members. as much as we hate to do it, and yes we really do hate to do it; sometimes we aren't left with any other options. for whatever reason, it sometimes has to be done. sure there's always gonna be fallout, but what our community has to realize is this; what we do here is for the greater good. didn't spock once say something to the effect of what's good for the many, may not be what's good for the few... or the one? or something like that. i just want everyone to understand that this is something we as staff members take very very seriously. bannings are not just given out lightly. each and every single decision we make involving our users is discussed in depth and sometimes ad nauseam. just remember that i will never tolerate any personal insult, attack, or the like to myself or friend. i don't go for that shit... period.

Feel free to question/comment.
Please be aware that discussion of names will not be done by the staff.
We don't want to drag anyone's character through the mud, so to speak.

Are these bans permanent?
or are there various time lengths put on bans depending on serverity?

or are there various time lengths put on bans depending on serverity? Most of the bans we now have are permanent.
However, it's not like that couldn't be changed.
If the staff here is approached in a civil manner, most bans could be lifted.
There has been a lot of propaganda about Nazi-type actions by the staff.
I don't see any Nazi's around here. :)

That just makes me think of the Monty Python, "Vote for Hilter" sketch

What if the insulter were to obtain permission from the soon-to-be insultee before the attack ensued, would this be tolerated? :106:

A bit off-topic, but let's go with it.

Oh bigusdickus, please don't take it so hard. :(
The big red letters are there to make sure my message is seen.
It's not to symbolize screaming at you or any such thing.
Did I not immediately try to lighten the mood ?

To answer your question.....
If your wish is to put on some type of show, that's fine.
Either make sure staff knows beforehand or expect more moderation of the same caliber.
Other than that, I see no reason to have it ok'd by the insultee beforehand.
The effect is still the same and could incite more of the same from others, only they wouldn't be putting on a show.

Do you not see the need for civil discourse in the open forums ?

Everything is perfectly clear and I thank you for the explanation about the recent banishment we've seen for some days now.

I've asked Mr Funk yesterday about all that, no that I wanted to know the reason of the banishment but if we have missed some new rules, and he told me you will discussed about that topic in a short term and communicate after your brainstorming. Thanks Mr T and all the team !

Do you not see the need for civil discourse in the open forums ?Hey, mate. I didn't mistake your post with red letters for anything but a bit of control with a dash of sarcasm. Believe me, no offense was taken.

As to asking permission before insulting someone, I was being sarcastic myself! lmfao! Just thinking about how absurd that would be, cracks me up. It's not something I would do, but it's something to ask for humor's sake. I wasn't trying to mock T or anyone else, just having a good time with it. I was laughing my ass off writing it up as a matter of fact. :D

sarcasm can be hard to decipher from short blurbs of text sometimes.

using sarcasm tags can help get your point across

^ see how they work? :D

So as you can see it happens to the best of us and sometimes for goofy reasons. I don't recall ever calling a noob a fool, but oh well.
Edit to add... I found my quote and I guess I did call somebody out on his first post. I'm not gonna go and get all bent outta shape over it though. :banned:
