I watched an episode of South Park last night and it was about Cartman being sent to fat camp, but the other side of the show was about Kenny being paid to eat some pretty nasty stuff. In the end of the show, Kenny was being called a prostitute by Jesus. He was booked on PPV to climb inside Ms. Crabtree's uterus and stay there for 6 hours.

It brought up an interesting point. People who are paid to do wacky shit like that are, in a way, prostitutes. Here's Webster's online definition of the word:

1 a : a woman who engages in promiscuous sexual intercourse especially for money : WHORE b : a male who engages in sexual and especially homosexual practices for money
2 : a person (as a writer or painter) who deliberately debases his or her talents (as for money)

I think the stuff the Jackass guys do is funny, while the crap David Blaine pulls is...well, weird, they kind of fall into #2. They do what they do to get paid.

Its easy for those guys to snort worms, get kicked in the sack, rattle themselves inside port-o-potties. Its easy for David Blaine to pull off the things that he does - magic, illusions or whatever. Its also easy for a woman just to have sex and get money. That's why women do it.

Society tells television stars and other performers its alright to do that stuff, but its not OK for a woman to have sex for money? While there may be moral issues with that, its legal in Nevada, so why not anywhere else?

It would open up a whole lot of jobs, that's for sure. Would there be a lot of diseases spread? Maybe, but through regular blood tests and licensing they could work no problem.

For a country that is supposed to be the most free in the world, we still treat sex like it's an awful thing.

Eh, it's just my two cents. The episode just brought up an interesting point.

Dude... are you saying you would pay for sex???

I would never sleep with a pristitute, thats just me...

I don't really think it is illegal because america finds it offensive... Thailand is the prostitute capital of the world, and it has riddled Southeast Asia with MANY problems...

"Perhaps what will be the final arbiter in the struggle over prostitution is the advent of AIDS to the brothels of Thailand and the Philippines. AIDS is spread rapidly and efficiently by the brothels because, basically, "[m]en do not like to use condoms, and the women can ill afford to refuse a customer who will not."

Click here and read this paper I found online. (http://www.links.net/vita/swat/course/prosthai.html)

Hopefully this helps...

Not saying I'd pay for it.

I'm just saying there seems to be a double standard and some people who were potential customers and wanted that kind of action, got busted. It would also end all of those stupid stings the police setup to entrap people.

This is one of the most illogical moral stands ever . There are many other professions where use of body as asset is accepted ie. Atheletes and every other mofo who breathes , and don't forget the military. Yet because it involves sex, it is looked on with disdain in the light , while the disdainers fully participate , without any hint of being aware they are hypocrites , in the dark.

There is no "free sex" or anything else for the matter , any "gift" is payment. Who pay's for the date?

Prostitution was not only the first profession , it is the only profession , but religious/fake moralism have been driven through our heads , so we accept these ironies and condemn the Hos and Johns and go to work and prostitute our time and energy for a paycheck ..............:075:

Different forms of prostitution could be legalized.. Like the bunny ranch in vegas. the pros are all in a house together and are tested rigorously.
Street walkers would be harder to control

The definitive rant, as seen on my own site...

I'm not SPAMMING, so admins, don't have a cow.

It has been called the world?s oldest profession. Throughout recorded history, prostitution?the trade of sex for money?has been practiced around the world. And though illegal in many parts of the world, prostitution is a thriving and widespread business.
Should it be illegal? Does our society truly benefit from the criminalization of the sex trade?
Prostitution takes many forms. Prostitutes who work independently, without a manager, are generally known as 'call girls'. These women are considered to be at the top of the sex trade pyramid. They set their own hours, and determine the prices for their services. In brothels, women are visited by customers, who then order sex like they were ordering a pizza. Street prostitutes are generally considered to be at the bottom of the social scale.
Moral issues aside, let's consider the health risks of the underground sex trade.
Sexually-transmitted diseases are rampant among illegal prostitutes and their client?le. Without medical supervision, and without the use of condoms, STDs flourish. Customers in the street trade pay top dollar for unprotected sex. Also, they are unlikely to be tested, or even treated for diseases they are exposed to. Since pimps often care little for the health of their employees, they typically do not enforce safe-sex practices. Therefore, the spread of disease goes unchecked. The community itself is put at risk.
Illicit drug use is often tolerated by pimps. A pimp might even encourage his girls to use drugs. Their habit becomes a leash for their master. They must work harder and longer to pay him for their daily fix. This, too, contributes to the spread of STDs.
Violence, too, is a fixture on the landscape. Prostitutes can be robbed, beaten, and even killed by their customers, with little chance of the perpetrators being caught and
punished. In the worst-case, they are abused by their pimps, with no legal way of defending themselves, without self-incrimination. If a girl gets sick, injured, or dies, there are always others to take her place.
The profits from the illicit sale of sex are staggering. A female can earn thousands in a day. However, she is likely to keep only a small percentage of this. A street pimp often takes as much as 90% of the prostitute's earnings as his personal share. In some cases, pimps forbid their girls from owning property in their own name. The car she drives, and the dwelling in which she lives may be owned by her boss. This, too, makes it difficult for her to get out of the business. Given these facts, it is no wonder why prostitution is often called 'white slavery'.
Prostitutes are disposable in the illegal trade. Their lives are far cheaper than the prices charged for their services.
All too often, underage girls are found in the ranks. These young women, who may have run from an abusive household, can easily find themselves turning tricks in order to survive. In some cases, they find their way into child pornography.
But what if the sex trade were made legal?
Prohibition of liquor turned bootlegging into a jumbo cash cow for racketeers in the first half of this century. It didn't?t take long for the criminal underworld to capitalize on the trafficking of outlawed booze. Similarly, gambling prospered in areas in which it was illegal. Such vices turned humble street gangs into powerful criminal empires. Mobsters, like it or not, gave the public what it wanted.
And the simple law of economics...supply and demand, also exists in the sex trade. Considering the prohibition model, it should be clear that making a vice illegal turns it into a big-ticket item for those who engage in its illegal trade. Without an overwhelming demand for sex, there would be no legion of thugs to reap the profits from it. When the state chooses to deny its citizens what they clearly demand, then the role of supplier is left to the dregs of that society. I firmly believe that if the industry were put under legal regulation, it could be cleaned up and at the least, be made safer for those who participate in it.
A woman could be granted full protection under the law. If she were assaulted by a customer, or even her boss, she could file criminal charges, and would be insured of a hearing to plea her case. If the trade were legal, she could maintain a reasonable portion of her wages, and submit tax returns like any other consumer. With equal property rights, a woman could exit the business without becoming destitute.
Drug-testing, in a legal trade, could curtail the use of narcotics. Sex workers, as a result, would be less likely to engage in high-risk sexual behavior to support an illicit addition. Also, treatment for STDs and substance abuse would be readily available by qualified medical personnel.
In closing, the exchange of sex, though abhorrent to some, is practiced by many. Despite attempts to end it through prosecution of practitioners, it flourishes. And in the illicit underground industry, the demons of drugs, violence, disease, and child abuse roam unfettered and unchecked.
The illegal sex trade, regardless of moral implications, is a breeding ground for the absolute worst of society's ills. It is a haven for criminal behavior, and the abuse of females in general. And ultimately, all efforts to stamp out the illicit sex trade have failed.

That post seems to suggest that ALL prostitutes stand to benefit from their "Skills" becoming legal... I don't see it that way... not all women in the biz are really that attractive, and I'm sure once made legal, all the attractive women would get good "positions" (haha go ahead laugh at it) at the local brothels... this will force the unattractive/drug addicted/disease infested women to simply lower their prices... not withdraw from the trade, leading to the spread of disease etc...

Any woman who reads this discussion has got to have a feeling of disgust in the pit of their stomachs because let's face it, prostitution of sex is geared towards men... Over time, women will lose equality... proof is already evident because yes, when a hooker is beaten and killed the police spend MINIMAL time and effort unless it becomes a streak of events to capture the offender... Women will lose equality...

Just my point of view...

Women will never have true "equality" regardless if prostitution is legal or not . Women's peculiar sexual attributes , as compared to men's ( in a paternal society , most things are seen through a male's perspective , sorry to say) have allways been a ruse for impotent men , who happen to rule . to control women.

I am no fan of prostitution , and even I have been brainwashed by the system too , and have disdain for many sexual situations ie Homos and their behaviour and violent sexual depictions , so I do not preach, so I think it will allway's be illegal in some aspect , good or bad........

Good points. No one thinks that if the trade was legalized and overseen by some agency that it would be just like other black market trades?

There are drugs sold at pharmacies that people trust and there are drugs that are sold dirt cheap (that are not cocaine, LSD, etc.) on the streets, that can be potentially harmful to the buyer.

I see a similarity in the point I just made and prostitution. If someone had blood tests and check ups regularly, because they want to make easier cash, then that would help prevent the spread of disease.

I think that there is too much of a moral stand against this type of thing in America. It seems that the government and Christian churches are trying for there to a central way that all of us should think and feel, minus a few exceptions like how we like our toast or which kind of Starburst we prefer.

I feel it could be legit, but like any other kind of regulated business, if it's stray, it can be potentially harmful to any client.

Man u got it right - THERE is no FREE SEX. In my opinion all girls are as good as prostitutes. the difference is just how they get paid. Some open their legs for money, some in exchange for goodies. Some hide behind the decent label of marriage and service one client instead of a diff one every night. In the end they spread their legs for some dough - whether in cash or kind.

Thats it! I used to believe in love, marriage etc. But I found it there is no such thing anymore. Its a commercial deal. Just that they dont openly say "I will spread my legs depending on what u got to give me in return".

At the end of the day its a deal; legal, illegal, or disguised or something else.

For the girls reading this - Sorry but dont flame me. I used to think otherwise once, but one/more of your kind changed my thinking.
