Y'know how with DOS it was "dir" to get a directory list, and
I think Unix is "ls".

So, since I could see the directory listed in some sites, I wondered if there was a "dir" type trick to get it to show itself in some websites that are more configuratively locked down.

Vanessa Kay's is one that I wanted to explore around that way, for e.g.
http://www.vanessakay.com/members/
..tried addending various things to try to make that folder list, but it wouldn't.
I think that was Apache btw.

I thought for sure that was how you found secret NDN videos nobody else seemed to know about, just moseyin' around in the file system, but no?!

Yeah, sounds familiar. ******* don't want webmasters catching on too quick ha ha ha.

I had assumed those couple NextdoorNikki vids were not intended for primetime yet; i.e. that you saw an enticing title & url in some code or file system folder and d/l'ed. But, yer right, those vids just had a numbering scheme.

Anyhhoos, here's another question. What is your browser of choice for surfing around in membership sites? I'm guessing it starts with "S"..

Also , I can tell Safari to announce itself as any browser , nice when you surf an MSN site where Macs are not permitted..............:)
Yeah, all my for-fun browsers announce themselves as IE on NT 5.1. Let them try and fool around with their sorry ActiveX exploits heh heh.

I looked up the archive feature in Safari 2.0. Yeah, it stores the page locally. Any browser can do a Save, so I would think Archiving would go a step further and save the pages and objects that are linked to.

Yup

I followed you up until this paragraph. I guess a video that is normally meted out in a download stream, and a video that has been saved as part and parcel of a wholesale site save .. .. are two different things. The one where she gets naked in the bedroom leaning over the dresser and all, that was a WMV. It was a recent-model WMV, as VLC couldn't play it, only Windows Media Player. I assumed thats why people had trouble playing the second one ("Covers"?). It ended ".wmv.mov". WMP sees that mov extension and won't even accept it. QT doesn't play wmv codecs. I thought that was the nature of that, but couldn't test the Covers one as I never got it.

Funny story , the first vid I grabbed off a forum , then it occurred to me , I can't see this vid on the site and the poster aint phil-flush , so I started from there , that poster can't even see all the vids only the 1 he posted , and he's an actual member,,,,,,,,,

I'm not much into techno speak , I just do what come's "naturally" ? So my explanations sound primitive , I know

This is "hidden" vid #235 on meganqt , notice no vid , well it's there in wmv form, so qt grab's it and changes the compression/codec to QT format......

Sure , but not every browser has all the available options of my Mac behind it hahahahaha. I am a net Outlaw , I follow rules because even an outlaw need's an Oasis where he can chill with others of the same ilk :004: , I don't sweat the details , I just check the results............:004:

hadn't paid attention to this mac thread... :) ... but I thought I'd mention that there's no real way to force a directory listing short of straight up hacking the server, directory listing is controlled on the server side.

junkboxy I have all the photosets and some of the vids from vanessa kay's site... and that's not the easiest feat considering the navigation of her site is a nightmare :) if you want I could post em / repost / something like that

When you locate on a link that ends in WMV (or MPG or MOV) a browser usually does one of two things:

1) If a player plugin for that particular format is available, it plays it in the plugin.

2) It downloads it:
a) either strait-up no-questions-asked (to default dl folder using files original name)
b) or a prompt window asks you to specify name (and destination) and you hit OK and then commence with download.

So this is where I get lost. That URL isn't an html page or php page.. or any normal web page ------ it ends in '.wmv' So I would be led to think that when you pasted-in or click-linked into that .wmv url, one of those two would have happened. Could it be that your Safari 2.0 isn't Windows Media Player Plug-in ready? And because of that it just downloaded the video behind the scenes? So yeah, yer "hidden" adjective threw me off

Not even a secret suffix like "*.*"? :020: :dammit:

No doubt. Thats why I just wanted to see them directory listed. They accomplished Flash-like complexity without Flash. Take a bow coders.

I pretty much came to the conclusion there wasn't any revealing stuff in the offering. The best one of the 3 vids I got was alright, with her doing a sexy car wash. After going 0-fer-3 though, I was done taking shots in the dark. :102:
If she does a real striptease, then sock it to me brah :066:

According to the site , the only way to DL is to click on the link , but there is no link. "Hidden" in this case , mean's , to be released in the "future" or not , members gotta wait :013: , my QT Flip4mac plug-in is fine.

Windows users with WMP 10, I assume , cannot see or find these vids . This is 1 of the reasons I try not to elabourate on my techniques , they are illogical and should not work , but the proof is undeniable :004: .

So obviously , logic dictates another way , but what I try to explain is exactly what I am doing , no more no less , someone else can figure the shit out , I'm glad it work's...........:003:

flash nav without using flash, lol, that's a great comparison... it's definitely one of the worst designs I've ever seen

as far as the sets, unfortunately it's all nonnude, so if that's what you're searching for it's good that ya stopped, but some of the galleries are pretty nice. since I uploaded these some time ago to an image host (they seem to keep files far longer than filehosts), I'll just copy and paste em...

the real question is, I posted about 30 sets of her on the previous (dot com) board, and now they are all gone ... even though none of the pics are gone or anything, no serious dead links. As a matter of fact I'd say over 100 threads I created were deleted at some point, unbeknownst to me... not cool...

Durcam you gotta fix post#6 too ;)

I've got to be jonesing for a new Mac sooner or later. Do you have a G4/G5, or one of the new Intels? The new Safari sounds good. I don't care much for old Safari on my Panther for power browsing, its just too weak. Keychain implementation is actually more convenient with Camino.

New intel , I wish , I got a G4 2.22 GHz power PC , use Tiger 10.4.6 , well, after I got rid of nearly 1/2 the original apps , Garage band, WTF? :004: . Key chain work's fine , after the changes I made to Safari Version 2.0.3 (417.9.3).............:004:
