Damn, I'm looking forward to Ortiz vs. Shamrock II in Vegas this July.
Should be an awesome fight. Get another great Sylvia vs. Arlovski fight too.:004:

I'm a big MMA fan, and UFC's next PPV is sounding like one of their best in awhile. I still prefer PRIDE to UFC, but UFC has some pretty good PPVs every now and then. The Ultimate Fighter is a good show too, I'm intrigued by the concept of the fourth season: using established fighters that never made it to the spotlight a chance to prove themselves in the eyes of MMA fans and fighters worldwide.

they need to cut the informercial crap on PPV and TUF

on the last PPV Joe Rogan had to say "Mickey the official beer of the UFC" everytime he interviews the post fight on the replay

I am a fan of UFC and Pride. As for the upcoming fight, Sylvia-Arlovski should be good, but I think Ken Shamrock should really retire already.

He probally will after this one, whether he wants to or not.
I hope Arlovski will finish this one quickly and get back the belt.
Also looking forward to Frank Mir's fight.

Agreeing with you on the first two calls,I don`t rate Sylvia at all and the UFC definately needs Arlovski back in the throne to give themselves some Heavweight credibity.
Quite like the look of Brandon Vera right now too,he could just pull off his very bold prediction of simultaneously holding the HW and LHW titles over the next year or so.

I want Shamrock to win too but I`ve really warmed to Tito via TUF3,dude`s a premiere coach and his undying enthusiasm for the sport has come across really well during that show.

One guy I would simply love to see back in UFC is Frank Shamrock :016:
I`m guessing he must have had a fallin out with Dana and his crew but:
Shamrock v Hughes
Shamrock v Franklin
How fuckin cool would they be! http://img46.exs.cx/img46/5277/fuckinawesome.gif

I agree, he's been impressive in his last string of fights not just with knockouts but also that last one with a submission. It would be interesting to see how he can do against the monsters in that weightclass.

Can't say I like the way he runs his mouth, but you got to respect his skills.

I love how the haters always use the Liddell fight to put the man down. But aside from the stoppage in his fight with Frank Shamrock, Chuck gave him his only real beating.

Yeah, I mean season 4, that's gonna be the gimmick behind it.

Also, about Frank Shamrock, he didn't have a falling out with UFC. HE just got to a point where he kicked everyone's ass, all over the world, and figured he had nothing left to prove so he retired. He came out of retirement a couple months ago and KO'd Cesar Gracie in 21 seconds, so yeah, he's still awesome. I really doubt he'll fight in UFC again, unless they pay him top dollar (something UFC fails to do with a lot of their top fighters). I could see him fighting in PRIDE, but I think the chance of that is still slim.

rumor has it that ufc paid royce 1.5 million dollars to fight hughes. maybe they could do the same for frank, hehehe.

the best fighters for me though are the ones in pride. fedor is just unbelievable and minotauros submission skills are just freaking awesome! vanderlei would whoop on tito's ass if they fought in pride. thing is, pride pays fighters more than the ufc. in japan, these fighters are celebrities!

i hung out with bj penn a few years ago when he visited our gym. cool guy.

i don't follow UFC too heavily, but i did go to a good UFC match a few years ago in Atlantic City. The main fight was Ortiz vs. Evan Tanner, and needless to say Tanner got the living shit beat out of him. The funniest part to us was when Tanner was literally being lifted onto a stretcher to be taken out of the octagon, and Tito Ortiz was doing the "gravedigger". that's some cold hearted shit right there.

And yet another MMA League :
International Fight Leage
http://www.ifl.tv

This must be good for the fighters, but if there's too many leagues, I think the over-saturation can backfire.

Difference in this one is that it is a team format.

some notable names in the coaches of different teams:

Bas Rutten coach of the Anacondas
Renzo Gracie coach of the Pitbulls
Pat Miletich coach of the Silverbacks

i think the IFL's first season just got concluded a few days ago. pat militich's team won. this guy is a great coach and trainer. i dont like him as a fighter tho kinda boring.

the new coaches for the next season are carlos newton, matt lindland, mark coleman and antonio inoki. theres also going to be a match between renzo gracie and pat militich. renzo has been on a downward track in the last few years tho.....

I'm not much of a UFC fan, but I was listening to a radio interview with Rudy Seanez of the Red Sox a few days ago (he's a quasi-mediocre middle reliever who's bounced around MLB for years), and he said his offseason training now consists entirely of UFC training. And if you look at the guy, he *is* a barrel-chested dude. He says he goes at it hard, but has it written into his MLB contract that he's not actually allowed to fight...he spars a little bit, but otherwise it's just the same strength/endurance training UFC regulars do. Sounded intense...as you can well imagine....

have any of you guys tried training jiujitsu or mma? i think you'll have a better understanding of the sport if you do. grappling is so much more complicated than what it looks. thats why i hate it when people start booing the moment the fight hits the ground. there's a lot of technique involved but the majority public just dont know it.

Josh Haynes, Ed Herman and Michael Bisping move onto the finals. They were alright fights. I thought Bisping had the best finish of any fight this season. He came out of nowhere just like he said with a flying knee and caught Ross and then finished him up with some nice shots and a couple more knees to the head before the ref stopped the fight. Jun. 24th is the finals.

Ken Shamrock ---- the O.G. of UFC. I'm a big fan of his fighting, but I think he sucks as a coach.

Tito Ortiz --- He's come a long way from the punk kid who was looking up to Tank Abbott as his mentor some years back. He's a better coach than Shamrock, but I'd love to see Shamrock wipe the floor with him. Even it was nothing but a grudge match.

pholmeskc31
06-17-2006, 01:10 AM
Same thing here. Fuck Ortiz anyways. I want to see Shamrock win also but after waht happened in their first match people have doubts that Ken can win. I have a feeling we might see the same thing happen which i hope not. Like pez Dana White said i think Shamrock was their mainly cause he was gonna end up fighting Ortiz anyways.

Ken needs to start pushing TITO'S buttons, and get him all hot and bothered.
I'm amamzed that Tito can simply look or smirk at Shamrock and make him go off. Ken needs to turn those tables, and make Tito lose HIS cool.:004:

Alas, I agree that Ken is probably passed his prime. He could still be a bad mofo, id he's in his zone. He's not THAT old!

yeah, ken just gets crazy whenever tito does one of his antics to piss ken off. its funny!

i was watching a ufc special about tank a few days ago. man, that guy just doesnt take losing very well. he was clearly owned by vitor but still doesnt wanna give credit to him. in case he forgot, he shook vitor's hand after that match. i think that the only fighter he shook hands with after a fight. tank would die if he fought guys like rampage or vanderlei. better yet, he should fight tito to prove once and for all who the huntington beach bad boy really is!

Usually if some of the televised fights end quickly they'll throw a few of the blacked out fights on. My guide is listing the show from 9 to 12, so there should be plenty of time.

3 Luigi Fioravanti beats Solomon Hutcherson by KO (Punch) in round 1 @ 4:15
4 Kalib Starnes beats Danny Abaddi by Submission (Rear Naked Choke) in round 1 @ 2:56
5 Rory Singer beats Ross Pointon by Submission (Triangle Choke) in round 1 @ 0:44

I'm a fan of MMA in general, the next UFC pay per view is a joke to me, I don't want to see Ken getting his ass kick again by Tito. Ken haven't won since UFC 48 where he beat up on an old Kimo, I really think Ken need to go back to the WWE where it's safe, LoL. I can really care less about Sylvia Vs. Arlovski III, the UFC couldn't find anyone else to challenge Sylvia so they give Arlovski a quick rematch. I can't believe the last UFC pay per view, Hughes Vs. Gracie, the UFC pay Royce 3 mil for the fight, they could have used that money to get more talent for the HW and LHW division, don't get me wrong the UFC have done great thing for the sport but I would really hope in the near future the UFC get better match up especially for their pay per view event. In my opinion PrideFC have the best HW division in the world, I am so glad that PrideFC will be having their first ever live event in the states this October (Las Vegas I think) and I'll bet that Dana White is scare to death of this man being exposed to the American public: http://fedor.bel.ru/video/randleman/Randleman_vs_Fedor.avi

I dont think that was the problem. He just doesnt have a good ground game. He knows how to get ya to the ground but there were times he should of took a side mount and he would of been able to probably get his first KO or stoppage. All his fights have gone to a decsion, doesnt know how to take anyone out yet. I mean he knows how, he just cant.

Rashad got a couple of good slams on Stephan, but once both were on the ground the fight really slowed down. But in Rashad's defense Sephan has good ground skills (he trained under Carlson Gracie) and everything he tried to throw on Rashad was defended.

Leben talked a whole lot of shit going into his fight, which made him look that much worse after the beating he recieved. Maybe Silva will get a match with Mike Swick next.

I could not believe Cummo gassed so quickly in his fight. But I was glad to see Goulet give a good showing. Most thought he was nothing after Ludwig got a KO @ 11sec. in their match, but Goulet was a seasoned fighter with some good victories who just got hit with a good shot.

And that was a sweet armbar Macdonald put on Christian.

I really think that the Leben/Silva fight was a big wake up call for the UFC. They need to stop promoting these TUF's fighter as world class fighter. As evident look at the Ad for UF5 they all have picture of TUF's fighter but not a single one have Anderson Silva on it. I would think the casual TUF fan is starting notice the differences now, like my friend from work who don't watch alot of MMA so when he saw the Leben/Silva fight, he said man, Silva was on another level than Leben, Leben was just swinging for the fences and Silva just pick him apart. I think Mike Swick is fighting David "The Crow" Loiseau next, I'll bet that "The Crow" will elbow the shit out of Swick easily. The UFC and Dana White is probably very pissed off at Rashad Evan for beating Bonnar because they was hoping that Bonnar would win and they would have setup the rematch between him and Forrest. Bonnar vs. Griffin II could have been a very big pay day for the UFC but now I would think people would careless about the rematch.

I take Arlovski over Sylvia by TKO. But as much as I don't really care for Sylvia, I can see this one going either way.

Tito over Shamrock. Shamrock in my opinion can't go the distance and win against Tito, and he is not as fast as Tito either. But Ken hits hard so all it could take is one good shot in the early going of this fight to completely change the outcome.

Almost sure thing to bet on Mir over Christison. Hope he can work his way back to the top.

Burkman vs Neer. Flip a coin, there's alot of talent in this match on both sides.

Never seen Stevenson fight at 155, so I'll pick Edwards to be the victor in this one.

Drew Fickett by submission.

Monson will win his match by submission. But doesn't stand a chance against either Sylvia or Arlovski. Although it's hard to bet against any man with someone being executed tattooed on the back of his neck.

This is just my picks for this card.

I wouldn`t be $lashing out no $40 for any UFC PPV,so lucky me,I get all UFC shows for free on Bravo in the UK,albeit 24 hours later,as live, just gotta avoid the fight scene the next day so I don`t catch any spoilers :027:

That Chris Leben equivalent of a thumping of a mugging was fun btw

As for 61:
Arlovski TKO over Slyvia
Sylvia`s the worst HW champ they`ve ever had for me,don`t rate the dude at all.

Tito POINTS over Shamrock

Co-inciddently,the rest of my picks would go pretty much the same as the Cowboy`s up there^^^,with Josh Burkman Vs. Josh Neer the Scrap of the Night

I wouldn't say that (although I've been wrong before) Shamrock took some brutal punishment in the first meeting. I figure it will probally last at least one round. But who can say for sure.

I can't remember what the last fight I saw with Shamrock in it (it wasn't that long ago though) and he was all pumped about showing up whoever he was going against and got whooped royally in the first round. He didn't even know where he was after all was said and done. Don't get me wrong... the guy is a legend, but even legends need to walk away at some point.

It's 1:45pm here, so about 7 hours I would think until Sham and Tito get it on. I'd really like to see Ken kick the crap out of Tito, but I did get a bit more respect for Tito when he brought in that sign langauge teacher on the Ultimate Fighter. That was pretty classy. But he's still a bit to cocky for me. I'm just glad that one of our local watering holes here gets the PPV stuff and doesn't charge a cover to see them. I just wish they had some drink specials...lol Anyway, the whole show should be pretty good. I hope!

Drew Fickett has beaten Kurt Pellegrino with a Rear Naked Choke @ 1:20 in the third round.

Cheick Kongo vs. Gilbert Aldana

Aldana scores a takedown to start the fight. Lack of action forces a ref standup with 3:20 to go in the round. Aldana with another takedown. Kongo reverses the postion and ends up in Aldana's guard. Aldana escapes to his feet, where is roughed up bad by several right hands and knees to the body. After a doctor intervened to check a cut sustained in the standup exchange, he called a stop to the contest at 4:13 of the first round due to the laceration.

Cowboy From Hell
07-08-2006, 08:28 PM
Anthony Perosh vs. Jeff Monson

First period starts with a takedown for Monson. Both fighters back standing. Monson working knees from the Thai-clinch. Monson then lands several uppercuts in a row then a right cross that ends the fight at 2:22 of the first.

Joe Jordan vs. Hermes Franca

After a fast takedown, Hermes moved quickly to a high mount where he finishes the fight with a triangle from the top position. Franca wins in his return to the Octagon at 0:47 into the third round.

Cowboy From Hell
07-08-2006, 09:36 PM
Joe Stevenson vs Yves Edwards

Before the third round could begin, the doctor stops the fight due to the cut on Edwards' head. The mat looks like someone got their throat slit.
Stevenson wins by doctor stoppage.

Dan Christison vs Frank Mir

Mir wins by decision.

yeah, that was a weak UFC. I wished the ref didn't stop the Tito-Shamrock so soon, just so there won't be any controversy, and they can end this feud between them,at least in the ring. I hope they don't set up another match.

As for the Arlovski-Sylvia fight, that was one of the most boring HW matches I've seen in a while. No one went to the ground, it was all stand-up, and you could tell both were cautious of each other for all 5 rounds.

The only highlight for me of the entire night was the fact that Wanderlei Silva from Pride came out and said he would like to fight Chuck Lidell. Now that is a fight you can count on being action packed.

If Liddell beats Babalu he faces Silva in November. But Silva still has to compete in the GP also. So the match is set if both fighters are cleared to compete.

Shit!

Kimo gets ousted? I'd hate to think he got the boot because of some cheeba.:019:

I hardly think he needed steroids, either. He's a monster.

I, too, think it's good to have a new MMA federation set up. It adds more opportunities for the fighters, more exposure for the sport, and competiton for the already booming franchises.

Cowboy From Hell

Kimo tested positive for Stanozolol, a banned synthetic anabolic steroid derived from testosterone. So I guess that's why he looked in such good shape for his age.

Dunno about Jenna and Tito, but the Dave Navarro one was just a false rumor which he denied on the radio the other night.

As for UFC, looks like Diego Sanchez is still undefeated after beating Parysean (sp?) last night.

Agreed - Hughes is an egomaniac, and I thought he treated some of his fighters on TUF like crap, but he is really good at his job. From a skill perspective I've got nothing but respect. He does appear to be kind of a jackass though. It's weird because that's not what I was expecting from him as a coach.

BigDaddy_GFS
08-22-2006, 09:58 AM
Tito can act like a punk sometimes. But that's often when he's taking jabs at Ken Shamrock. That doesn't bother me too much. Fighters are often cocky mofos who'd rather bang it out, than compromise and work it out.

But I am truly hoping Matt Hughes will square off against somebody who will give him a righteous pounding.

bman
08-22-2006, 09:41 PM
I was never a Tito fan until I saw the way he coached. His antics in the ring really got under my skin, but they do sell tickets. I wasn't expecting him to be the sort of coach that the show seemed to indicate.

Hughes on the other hand seemed to have very little interest in working with or developing certain team members. It was like he made a decision that it wasn't worth his time to work with some of his guys. Not what I was expecting at all.

I've watched the first two episodes of TUF 4 and that is an excellent show. Every season has kept my attention. I'm a big fan of Shonie Carter after watching him on that show. I've never seen a more laid back fighter in my life.

I hope the show doesn't include women trying to become ring girls. The fact that the show is pure fighting with drama is a great mix. Anything else and it would seem lame - like when they did the challenges. It's straight fighting now and that's the way it should be.

Shonie IS cool. I thought he was a little snotty at first, but that's just the pimpish quality in him. The boy knows how to brawl. I'm hoping this TUF season offers him, and some of the others a chance at the big time.

Ring girls? I don't think they need a series dedicated to a talent search, either. But some BTS stuff about the girls might be cool. I'd like to know more about them. They can't do TOO much extracurricular outside-the-ring stuff, or else it would degenerate into something like the WWE.:031:

I dug Shonie, too, but dammit, he needs to buy himself some bigger shorts! Watching him fight in that speedo was bad enough, but then it got pulled down or something and his jock was riding out of the back. Seeing a girl's thong peeking out = :038: . Seeing an MMA fighter's jock peeking out = :P .

kevdude82
09-02-2006, 04:17 PM
I did. lol That fight was incredible. I was pulling for Edwin DeWees and I'm glad he won.

Gideon Ray didn't do anything the whole fight, excapet the elbow that cut DeWees open and he missed a jumping kick. After the fight, Ray said he thought the fight should of been called, because of the cut. Those are words of a sore loser, imo.

The cut didn't seem to bother DeWees and he was able to keep fighting. It wasn't even that deep. It just bled a lot. lol

Kudos to Team Mojo! They're #1!

that was bitchin'! dewees never stopped - totally awesome. ray didn't do shit the whole thing except lay on the ground and get bled on. ok, so he landed one lucky shot to cut dewees, but that was it, a lucky hit. no way in hell he should've even been on the show as a contender. i don't think his previous fights would even qulify as an "almost there" type of fighter. he lost everything previously for good reason - he sucks ass.

Yeah, I was a bit suprised they didn't stop it, which would have been a shame given how well DeWees was fighting. Props to him for not losing his cool with all that blood. I bet a lot of fighters would have lost some will after seeing the amount of stuff coming out.

I liked the shot of Ray on the ground dodging the blood. Hilarious.

who's gonna take it? i'm thinkin' Hughes only because he's pissed-off for loosing the first bout in such a pussy way. not to mention Penn is an old fat fuck now... but if i recall, he was fat the first time he made Huges tap like a little bitch.

You mean Matt Hughes if fighting Sean Penn?:013:

OMFG!!! I don't think Jeff Spicoli can handle the UFC's toughest welterweight.

But wait. That's not Sean. Well Chris was a bad mofo in the day. Except he's now hanging with Elvis, so neither he nor the King are viable opponents.:D

OK. Seriously. I hope the FIGHTER named Penn kicks Hughes' ass, if for no other reason than to see that egotistical bonehead get humbled and bloodied simultaneously.

armanisuit

from what I've read on MMA forums, BJ supposedly broke a rib sometime in the 2nd round, which is why he looked gassed in the 3rd.

Matt's opponents are probably better than him in a lot of ways, but what makes Hughes victories sometimes is his ability to capitalize on a mistake. His opponents don't exploit Matt's flaws.

I was pulling for Penn, but it didn't seem like that was the same BJ Penn. I didn't see much of a difference in Hughes this time as I did last time, when he lost to BJ.

This month is probably one of the biggest month in 2 different MMA organzation. Since Pride is coming to take over the UFC fans, UFC will have to make some changes in order to compete and market with them.

UFC had to have their event a week earlier than they usually do since PrideFC is coming to Vegas. UFC usually have their events date real late during the month.

PrideFC: signed Mike Tyson temporarily in order to draw boxing fans. They have an all-star card in the October 28 PPV. The fight maker usually promotes stand up fight.

I think the Pride's opening ceremony will convert the UFC fans.

UFC usually have 2 decent headliners fight in their PPV and the rest of the card are fillers. Anderson Silva vs Rich Franklin is a blockbuster fight and Sean Shrek vs Kenny Florian isn't really that good but it's a decent fight.

Hell, yes! There should be a no-weight-limit class and title. It would attract the big boys who don't fit the current weight lcasses, and also it would mix things up. Like the old days when they had David vs Goliath matches.

I'd like to see them bring back the 8-man iron man tournament like they had in the early days. Who in the current roster can fight three guys in one night?lol

UFC stepped up a notch with their fight card,

The main event is a great fight and the others 2 or 3 decent fights in my opinion. I want Sylvia to lose and GSP to win.

Mishima is a good fighter and will beat Joe Stevenson, Stevenson could only win by holding people down GnP style.

sandler
10-23-2006, 08:49 PM
you gotta hand it to hughes tho. after beating bj penn recently, he's again fighting. he's a warrior but yeah, i want gsp to win. also, ive been watching TUF 2 and matt is an asshole to some of the guys from Franklins team.

armanisuit
10-23-2006, 10:07 PM
yeah man, i respect matt hughes as a fighter/champion, but after seeing his appearances on TUF, he seems like a real a**hole. I wouldn't mind seeing GSP give him a reality check.

My other votes go to Monson, Vera, and Diaz. Haven't seen too much of the other guys to have a definite favorite.

kevdude82
10-24-2006, 12:31 AM
I'd like St. Pierre to win, Sylvia, Mir, and Diaz.

BigDaddy_GFS
10-24-2006, 12:22 PM
Monson's a monster. Seeing him throw down with Silvia would be great.
And yes, I'd like to see Hughes get a good beating from St. Pierre. Hughes defeated him last time out, and it would be good to see an upset.

Grunder12
10-24-2006, 05:03 PM
Well Matt Hughes was also kind of an asshole to when he was a coach on tuf2. Mainly to Rashad. If anyone can beat Matt though I think its GSP. GSP will be ready this time. As far as Monson and Sylvia, I would rather see Tim win.

kevdude82
10-24-2006, 05:35 PM
People said they thought BJ Penn could beat Hughes again as well. I'm not sure if St. Pierre could win, but damnit I'd LOVE to see it happen. Matt Hughes being humbled would be a fantastic thing. lol

Rich Franklin recently got taken down a couple notches after getting his ass kicked by Anderson Silva. He's not so cocky now, is he?

The same could happen to Hughes and should. I hate that guy.

Ortiz vs Lidell will be on December, you guys didn't know that they were gonna fight.

Chuck finish off almost all of his his UFC opponets except Jeremy Horn with the first round from what I remember. Randy Couture beat check also.

If Mike Swick can't beat Silva then the UFC needs some new blood to bring in to take Silva down. Silva is the top dog right now and the best contender isn't even on his level, seriously. Mike Swick probably has a better chance on beating Silva than Rich Franklin because Swick trained in Muay Thai in Thailand before he started in MMA. But Silva is a technical striker and they weren't kidding on the pre fight commentary, whenever he throws knees, kicks, or whatever it will be a direct hit.

I`d like to see TUF 3 winner Michael Bisping drop down and do some damage in the MW ranks, couple of scraps and I`m sure he`d be a challenge for anyone in this division.

As for the main Bill, put a tick next to another who`d like to Hughes have his ass well and truly handed to him by St.Pierre.
I also hate Sylvia,so Monson for me.
Brandon Vera I`ve been impressed with since day one @ufc,so I take him to dismantle Mir,who was uuuuuuuuuuuugly in his last outing.

I was not as impressed with this card as I have been with most others.
But it had its moments.

Matt Serra vs. Chris Lytle
Decision (Split)
Winner:Matt Serra
Round 3 (5:00)

In this fight, they clinched against the fence for what seemed like 2 1/2 rounds. Serra dominated in the last few seconds. I'm glad Serra won, but I was nodding off by the time it finished.

Din Thomas vs. Rich Clementi
Submission (Rear Naked Choke)
Winner: Din Thomas
Round 2 (3:11)

Pete Spratt vs. Jeremy Jackson
Submission (Injury)
Winner: Spratt
Round 2 (1:11)

Scott Smith vs. Pete Sell
KO (Punch)
Winner: Scott Smith
Round 2 (3:25)

This fight was great! Scott Smith and Pete 'Drago' Sell threw leather all the way. And what's even more interesting...they LOVED IT! They smlied and high-fived each other several times during the match. It climaxed as Drago doubled Smith over with a body shot which almost dropped him to his knees. As Sell came in for the kill, his nose was mashed into a bloody mess by a right cross, which floored him. A great finish.

Charles McCarthy vs. Gideon Ray
Submission (Armbar)
Winner: McCarthy
Round 1 (4:43)

Travis Lutter vs. Patrick Cote

Submission (Armbar)
Winner: Lutter
Round 1 (2:18)

Jorge Rivera vs. Edwin Dewees
TKO (Strikes)
Winner: Rivera
Round 1 (2:37)

I didn't get to see some of the fights, but Sell/Smith had the most awesome finish I'd ever seen in a UFC fight. Period.

I'm glad Serra won, but Lytle did pretty good. I think he was really pissed after the fight, as he kind of just stormed out of the Octagon. His family was shocked when he lost too. Wow. lol Talk about uncomfortable.

Lutter dominated Cote and I was hoping he would lose, because I like Patrick, however after that fight it made me a fan of Lutter.

Yup, the Sell/Smith was an awesome finish, every other fight was kind of boring, and were filler to lengthen the broadcast. I was looking forward to the seeing the Serra/Lytle match, but had to leave. too bad it seems like it was also a boring match as well. thanks for the upload Big Daddy.

I never thought I'd be happy about a French-speaking dude whipping an American's ass. But I'll give GSP a pass on this one.lol

Round 1: St. Pierre comes out with a leg kick, Hughes with a jab. Half the crowd's chanting "USA" and half "GSP." St. Pierre with a couple low kicks, Hughes again with a jab. Hughes feigns a kick. GSP connects with a punch and Hughes blocks a kick. Hughes with a jab. GSP with two jabs. Still circling, each practically daring each other to make a first big move. GSP hits Hughes with a high kick and rocks him backwards. Hughes smiles and the two high-five before engaging again. They trade jabs. GSP kicks Hughes low and Hughes goes down. Clearly not intentional and Hughes is given time to recover. GSP with another low kick that goes too low. It looks like GSP is aiming for Hughes' thighs and missing. A longer break. Back to action, GSP goes high with a kick, Hughes hits a jab. Hughes looks angry. GSP rocks Hughes with a punch and tries to clinch him and hit a knee, but Hughes pushes him off. Hughes with a leg kick. GSP drops him to the mat with a punch. GSP with a couple bombs and another shot as Hughes gets up. GSP goes for a kick, Hughes catches him and goes for a slam but GSP manages to stay on his feet. GSP pops Hughes with a punch in the final 10 seconds something fierce, but time runs out in the round just as GSP was pouncing to try to end the fight. St. Pierre wins round one in a decisive manner. GSP absolutely rocked Hughes with the right cross; Hughes was saved by the end of the round.

Round 2: Hughes can be a slow starter, but GSP looked at the top of his game in round 1. Hughes seems to be dropping his hands from time to time. GSP going for low kicks, and takes him down with one, but Hughes gets up. Hughes went for a takedown, but GSP was waiting on it and nailed him in the head with a lethal left kick to the head. St. Pierre pounces, hits a left, a right, a left, a right, several big rights, four left elbows, and the unthinkable has just happened … Big John McCarthy stops the fight and Georges St. Pierre is the new UFC welterweight champion at 1:25 of the second round. The two fighters embrace in the octagon. St. Pierre has tears in his eyes, which he's trying to hide with his hat, as he gets the belt placed around his waist and is announced as champion.

Penn v Hughes

Georgy will be contracted to fight TUF 4 Winner Matt Serra next.

As for Penn v Hughes 3,I heard Penn is dropping back down to Lightweight,so that one doesn`t look likely.

For sure he`s looked ugly and vulnerable since his return but maybe retire`s a bit premature,he needs to lose some pounds still and have a couple of easy pickings thrown his way to build his confidence back up,dude`s still young enough.

I pray Vera pastes Sylvia next up though.

I was pulling for Monson against Sylvia, but after that win, I gotta say Tim Sylvia is my favorite in the heavyweight division. That guy is damn good. Hell, he may of lost to Arlovski once, but he made him look like a bitch in their third fight.

If Sylvia fights Vera, I'm going with Sylvia.

Results from Miramar: Ultimate Fight Night Live
By Sean McClure
Wednesday, December 13, 2006

The crowd was as I expected being that I am a former Marine myself. Before anyone e-mails me yes I know it's, "once a Marine always a Marine". And a model one I was and I can appreciate the joy that the UFC is bringing to these guys who are awaiting orders at anytime to be placed in harm's way. OOH-RAH!

Marcus Davis vs. Shonie Carter

Marcus just looks HUGE compared to Carter. They clinch and it is obvious who the crowd is for as they chant Shonie's name as he is a former Marine himself. Marcus lands some knees and then gets the takedown getting the mount and then getting Carter's back. Mr. International fights out of a rear naked choke attempt by the Irish Hand Grenade in spite of Marcus's tight body triangle. Shonie manages to get in to his guard and land a few elbows as the round ends.

In the 2nd round, Davis rocks Shonie badly and Shonie remains hurt for the remainder of the round almost. Marcus just punishes Shonie until Carter drops Davis with a nice leg kick. Still, it was all Davis.

The 3rd round saw Shonie actively seeking leg kicks on Marcus. Davis continued to land punch after punch and Shonie vainly tried to land head kicks in return.

The judges scored the fight (30-26) (29-28) (30-27) for the winner by unanimous decision: Marcus Davis

Drew Fickett vs. Karo Parisyan

Round 1 and Fickett looks good striking in the opening minutes. Karo throws some big, looping right hands and gets a groin kick for his troubles. He takes a moment to regain his composure and they are at it again. Karo gets a takedown, but Drew is right back up. Karo starts landing some big right hands and Drew is eating them like they were his lunch. The round ends with Fickett avoiding some takedowns.

Round 2 kicks off fast and furious like with the two fighters both sporting cuts from the intense striking. The fight is stopped for a moment as Karo is ground and pounding Fickett because Drew cuts him from the bottom with an elbow. The cut is bad, but is under the eye so they are allowed to continue. Fickett gets up from the takedown and then scores one of his own.

Round 3 is all Karo as he throws Fickett down and continues to get the better of the stand up. After the fight they kissed each other on the cheek and hugged.....I am not making that up.

All three judges score the fight (30-27) for the winner: Karo Parisyan

Josh Koscheck vs. Jeff Joslin

Round 1 sees Joslin getting the better of the stand up, but Kos quickly proves why he is one of the best wrestlers in the country with a beautiful shot in and takedown. They both nullify each other's ground game and the referee stands them back up. Koscheck takes Joslin down again after being rocked by a stiff right hand. Josh takes him down to end the round.

Round 2 and Joslin owning the striking game so Josh does what he does best and takes him down. Josh lands a few strikes from the guard, but they are stood back up after the action stales. Kos takes Jeff down and Joslin has a triangle in the final seconds to finish out the round.

In the 3rd round, Joslin looks to land something big and tries a spinning backfist. Josh takes Jeff down and he is neutralized again by Jeff's butterfly guard. Koscheck gets a guillotine and cannot hold on to it as Joslin scrambles to get up. They are stood up again and the round ends with a Koscheck takedown.

All three judges score the fight 30-27 for the winner: Josh Koscheck.

Diego Sanchez vs. Joe Riggs

I thought Diego looked a little softer than normal, but still looked intense as ever. It's 30 seconds before the first punch is thrown, but it happens and round 1 is officially underway. Diego's first takedown attempt is stuffed and Riggs lands a few punches in exchange. Then, in an equal exchange, Diego explodes with a hook and sends Joe reeling like something out of Mike Tyson's Punch-Out for the NES. As Riggs gets up, Sanchez rushes in and lands a flying knee that puts Riggs's lights out. He follows up with punches until the referee has to stop it.

Winner by knockout: Diego Sanchez.

The fights were decent. The Karo vs. Fickett fight was insane and very entertaining. The troops remained motivated and enthusiastic throughout the entire fight. Diego proved once again that he belongs in the UFC and that he deserves a title shot very soon.

Diego's performance was electrifying. He caught Riggs with a short right jab, which rocked him. Didn't lok like a hard hit. But Riggs back-pedalled and dropped was going down just as Diego ran in with a flying knee. Riggs fell, even as Diego unloaded 3 or 4 good shots before the ref stopped it.

Riggs was OUT like a LIGHT! And yeah, he needs a title shot.

I predict an upset if Liddell doesn't pock his eyes. Looking forward for the Bisping vs Schauffer, Singer vs Okami, and Leben and MacDonald. Best card in the UFC yet.

Right after the UFC PPV you have the Pride Shockwave the best PPV card of the year.

You also have Heros Dynamite also. Sakuraba vs Akiyama.

It will be crazy Genki Sudo's and Gono entrance as well as the opening theme and ceremony for Pride and Hero's. Japanese folks know how to entertain the fans.

i agree. he wouldve won it anyways but to win like that, leaves a sour taste on my mouth. its not as clear cut as it couldve been.

that macdonald-leben had the weirdest submission hold ive ever seen! WOW!!!

probably one of the best UFC's ive ever seen. not a lot went the distance!

yeah, Macdonald applied to be in the ultimate fighter but didn't get in.

MacDonald has sick jit-jitsu according to Joe Rogan when he faced Ed Herman. McDonald is a rising star in the UFC.

you should check out Pride's Shockwave videos that I have.
The one that finished TKO was a beat down- almost brutal check out the Ishida-Gomi, Yoshida-Thompson, and Tamura-Minowa. The fighters that lost those fights almost need a stretcher in my opinion and I watched alot of Pride events.

gotti, bro that sounds scary!!! thanks for the vids. ill be getting them in a while. damn internet connection is messed up because of the taiwan quake! parts of south east asia are now having probs with the internet!

the only good matchup for lidell is a good striker. vanderlei would give him a run for his money. just my opinion :)
